I succesfully transformed my old G1 to a full spectrum camera, and using IR filter on the 14-140, I can make IR only photograps... I was wondering, in ir photography generally I use wide open, and I don't pixel peep, I use the whole picture, and don't even crop. I want to get rid of the 14-140 as my ir lens, and I thought of something smaller, like the 14mm 2.5 pana, or even the olympus 15mm cap lens. What are your thoughts? If I buy the caplens , can I disassamble it to mount an IR glass in the back of the lens? Is there any space between the mask and the lens?

Great pictures, I love the second one. I am kind of wondering what would happen if you took the same images but applied different colour pallets to them (e.g. oranges, reds, blues, etc)? Could get some interesting results.

So did you send your G1 away to a specialist to get the filters removed? And if so may I ask how much it was? I would love to do this but it seems like it can cost upwards of $500 which is just too much for me for that.

I've been using an IR modded G1 for several years with the 14-45, 45-200 and 7-14 lenses, they all work fine but I have to manually focus the 7-14. I'm now considering converting my GX-1 to IR as I have the GX-7 on preorder to replace it.

I converted it my self at home for free. I removed the IR blocking filter and replaced it with a piece of regular window glass... I am wondering if I put a piece of IR filter glass in front of the lens it should do the trick and I could use it with any lens...

May I ask where you found the instructions/guide on how to do that? It sounds like something that would be quite difficult to do...

I'd consider picking up a second hand G1 and converting it if I thought I could.

I used the dissasembly manual for G2, G1 is wery similar, but there are some differences, you have to be careful. I work in a gsm repair shop disassembling tens of phones a day, so for me was somewhat easier...

If you haven't googled the topic, lifepixel.com offers conversions and also has DIY instructions posted on their site. There are other sites offering mail in conversions and pre-converted cameras.

I am on the fringes of sending my G1 in, but haven't really decided what filter to get. I like the look of the pure b&w IR pix, and I'm not that into post post processing so I don't think I'd benefit from the partial color filters. So I am thinking the strongest, B&W filter.

PS: I like both pictures, and hope to have similar results, especially like the first.
