Very first S400 pictures

Isabel:

I notcied that you used a PS technique, I belive screen layer??, that lightened your dining roon pic taken with the S400. Can this technique help this pic in the link?
Thanks.

You know I've downloaded it before and abandoned it because I
didn't understand how it worked. It doesn't seem to change the
image until you click on "add". What I like most about it is that
it seems to not create those terrible telltale white fringes around
sharpened areas...at least not at the settings you suggested!
Thanks for the very excellent starting points!

Here's the first version pasting in her eyes from the dark image...there wasn't too much detail there so I created the white part as best as I could imagine: http://www.pbase.com/image/17082119/large

In the Next image I borrowed the young man's eyes and pasted those as best I could...but retouched a bit too much with the rubber stamp! I like the first version better.

Fabulous pictures from your S400, Isabel.

I see from PBase you use(d) a UZI, that takes great indoor flash photos, with excellent skin tones.

With 2 small kids, I take lots of flash pictures.

I'd be very interested in your opinion of how the S400 handles this type of shot.

ps I've learned an amazing amount about "levels" and "sharpening" in this thread. Thanks!

Thank you, Andrew.

Hard question! I've had the S400 for a very short time. It does everything well! Maybe you should put this question to people who've used the S400 for a longer time. I am not fond of flash...I would rather up the ISO rating than use flash. I love both cameras...I love ALL my cameras. Even though it's only 2 mp I prefer the 2100 for animal pictures. That image stabilized lens gives you lots of leeway in the camera shake department!

Once again, very impressive. Your shots look like they're
straight out of a quality magazine ad. I think the fact you clearly
have very nice taste in home decor helps a little too ;)
The place looks very nice (great layout) and the pictures show it
well. I am impressed also with the technique to lighten an image.
Learn something everyday. Very nice results with the S400.
