Either koalafarm or KiranP complained to Phil about DavidP's post about his Epson 2200. Phil even went so far as threantening to ban DavidP unless he behaves and then moved his post to the "Open forum" forum!!

Unbelievable!! Neither koalafarm or KiranP have contributed anything of value to this forum except their requirements to censor the subject line and/or the content of every post on this forum. How dare they!! How is it that the anal rentative types have any control over this forum. I advise all to boycott all post from these two control freaks.
DavidP, you are a learning process, keep posting!

I have sent a complaint about koalafarm and kiranp to phil. I encourage all that feel the same to email Phil as well.

Don't let this forum be controlled by those that wish to censor this forum. Please send an email to Phil expressing your feelings.

How do you know it was one of those posters?

On one hand, I like some of the posts that are only tangentially relevant to Phil's guidelines. The idea of posting to or following other forums is unattractive, as you get a community thing going in your regular forum, and it becomes home.

On the other hand, there've been a lot of garbage posts, and Phil occasionally reasserts his wishes for content on his forum. You can't argue with that.

BUT, it's completely unacceptable to have forum members whining to Phil over the least trangression.

a quality member like DaividP gets banned. He has real, useful information in his posts. I just don't believe it.

That is ridiculous....

I wonder if Phil's going through all of the other forums and removing off topic posts as well...

Amazing how he ignores the political threads that pop up from time to time....but because of a few whiners he gets bent out of shape about a post about printers....

Jeez.

It's easy to critisize when you're not the one managing this forum. I know that if I were him, I would have pulled the plug on this group already. I don't see why it's such a big deal to follow his simple rules. It's not as if he's telling anyone they can't talk about printers at all. It's just that he's provided a link to click on before you do. Pretty simple.

The problem is that this community has momentum and people like not only to know they've been heard almost immediately after posting, but also that they can expect to get a lot of responses everytime they do. It's addictive to some people.

Personally, I don't mind printer posts on this forum from time-to-time because so many people print their 10D images, but, in general, I try to target the best forum for the job (for me, it's Canon SLR and Lighting Technique).

He's our Sex God, Chief Measurbator, Pope's antipode (he shoots with camera upside down), inventor of Front/Back virus, brick walls, cereal boxes, he is The Wilkinsons, he is our Everything.

David, we back you up completely.

And if you do get banned, please resurrect ASAP, we'll recognize you in any name, be it EinsteinP or mini-dp

:)

Don't worry, folks, everything will be all right!

First of all, I never spoke to Phil at all. Second of all, I wasn't even trying to get the post moved. All I asked is that threads should have appropriate titles so that we can decide if its something we want to read or not, as opposed to just having to click on it cause we didn't know what it was about at all. Thirdly, I have actually been quite helpful. Just a couple of days ago I helped fill someone in about white balance issues. Even though many people wrote 2 cents, I went to the trouble to outline the differences between AWB, presets, manual, and using the temp. scale. And that was jsut a few days ago, never mind the number of times I've really helped way before that.

I don't want David banned at all so please stop your witch hunt. Clicking on some of these threads is like opening up a book without reading the title. Would it be great if all the thread titles just started with a number... as in Theard 20324, then 20325 and so on? Cause that is what its like sometimes when people don't take the 10 seconds to think of a thoughtful title.

Tell you what, if my idea was so bad, start posting messages with wacky thread titles and see how many other people you pi$$ off, cause I can assure you, its not just me, and my intentions were only to help the greatest number of people here. Cause you know, we do have lots of people here now. Its not just you anymore, who may be part of the in group that gets to decide how things are run.

Now I'm curious. Exactly what did you say to Phil? "Ban this guy cause he's trying to take the forum over by just asking people to post an appropriate title?" Whatever happened to Phil knows best, its his forum. Looks like he moved David's thread and everything else remains intact. So exactly who was in the wrong here buddy? (and just incase anyone asks, I didn't even think david was in teh wrong. all i wanted was a move to better thread titles)

I do have to commend you on your title though. It was very accurate and descriptive. Looks like my suggestions are helping.

Some are just totally misleading and a waste of everyone's time and bandwidth, and the others that try to be funny are just lame... ("I shot my pussy", etc...)

Don't really care that it's a printer post in a slr forum.... In fact, many of us would probably not even see it if it weren't here. We all break that rule.. Everyone hangs out and knows everyone here and doesn't wanna stray :).

Where in the rules does it say no Off Topic posts are allowed?

This is actually the first time I can remember that Phil has spoken on this issue.

I hope Phil reconsiders and really separates the trees from the forest. Of all the nonsense that's going around in this forum David has been a solid and level-headed contributor. If Phil feels a need to do some pruning he has plenty of choices.
