Galleries that inspire you?

He sure looks like it, doesn't he?

I hope he doesn't have any nasty run-ins with water snakes and that he gives us many more of his lovely images in the years to come!
of Burl Ives in that old movie where he gets bitten by the moccasin

Clyde Butcher is Florida's own Ansel Adams. His large format, black
and white photographs are truly magnificant. If you've never seen
his site, it's a wonderland. There is a lot of detail about his
dark room - he prints enormous, wall-sized photos there! And his
gallery is incredible. You'll also find a journal that is
incredible to read. This guy is truly one of the "masters".

I had trouble with broken images in the Chumsak Kanoknan gallery (especially loading from the thumbnails in the macro gallery) but what did load was really nice. The color and mood in this one was just wonderful:

I was going through your gallery and am having the same problem with broken images. I dont know if its pbase servers or my lovely Charter connection though. :)

I've been shooting a bit of the old settler cabins in the park here and I am fascinated with the texture of raw wood buildings. Really loved your X Marks The Spot.jpg

Thanks again for the post!

My fella is a Florida boy and hopefully we'll get a chance to go to one of Butchers galleries next time we go down for a visit. Cant wait to see some of these shots in person. I'm a big b+w photo junkie. His work really is wonderful. Thanks for the link.

Thanks for pointing out M.E.'s gallery, Jarrell. I've always liked her work, but seeing a large collection of such beauty and quality on one page is stunning. It would make a wonderful book.

Now if we can just get her to quit cropping out the feet of her avian models... :-).

I've got an idea! Lets take a bunch of pictures of feet.... all kinds of feet! Our feet, dogs feet, cats, flies, lizards... whatever, and put them on a cd and send it to M.E. Then she can choose whatever feets look best on the birds! :)
She's gonna whip our you- know- what if she ever finds us!

Feet, feet, feet...what's the big deal with bird feet! They're usually really ugly anyway. LOLOL.

I promise, guys. I will TRY to quit lopping off bird feet. It's a serious problem. But only one thing at a time, eh? I first need to conquer this tilted horizon disease I have. :)

Jarrell, send me bunny feet and you're gonna need yours to run away fast! LOL

I thought I'd see if anyone was willing to share links to the
galleries out there that REALLY inspire them. You know the ones I
mean. The ones that MAKE you want to pick up your camera and do
better. :)

Maybe make a comment ot two about what makes it special for you -
composition, color, subject matter, macro work, etc?
Great light , great scenery. verry serene.

Yes, thoes are nice but Infrared images haunt me and his are amoung the best. I also love his generosity with his photographic knowlage. He will always help with a question. That is rare in such a talented person.
Lucinda
This is my main man right here, and not afraid to share his
knowlage. He is quite talented and takes time to answer questions
and help others.

This is the one of the many sites I like most http://www.williamneill.com/homepage.html I can imitate some with slides; however, I am still in the early stage to get to that level using prosumer digicams without significant postprocessing, which is kind of difficult. Note that I am not saying "inspire" here. However, if you insist, that is going to Ansel Adams work.
