Yep it is the EC20 in the pic. One of the first things I did was put it on to check it out :)

So far I and happy with it. I will know later today when I take it for a run with the E-30.

As to currency fluctuations we can swing 10% in a week and not due to any thing we did. The Greeks go bust and we suffer. Some one in Europe or the US goes bust or gets Caught with their fingers in the cookie jar and our currency goes to hell. :)

Yep I have not been so excited for a while.

On the other hand it now put up or shut up. I have all the tools and now its up to the operator. :)

I will report in later about the wheels. As to the pledge . It reminds me about the story my dad told . His mother was a staunch Methodist and he and his brother had to take the pledge about fast woman and booze when the where about 7 . They ticked the calendar of every year until they where 18.

Getting this lens allows me to get the bigma in for a long overdue service. I will still use it as a general use lens as believe me it is much lighter than the 90-250. It also has the 50mm . The strength of that lens is the 450mm to play with. Its also quite good up to 400m wide open.

So with the 50-200 and the 50-500 and now the 90-250 I will have to find a home for the 135-400.

Its strange how things panned out.

Yes we do nee a new body and after this purchase I am really in the system for the long run.

A problem with a PRO m4/3 camera which supports 4/3 lens totally would be if I want to post on the other forum. :) This one is becomeing nice and laid back. ( O hell I am going to get burnt)
 
Hi Collin

A convenient replacement of the original lens cap (that nylon bag with the drawstrings) might be Lenscoat's Hoodie Lens Caps (www.lenscoat.com). They are rather conveniently priced and offer good protection of the front lens.

I also think that the protective filter is part of the optical formula so I would leave it on all the time. I use the lens hood regularly on all my lenses as it excludes stray light and optimises contrast.

The bokeh you show in your OP is nice, but I can do that with the 50-200 if there is enough separation.

Thanks Tim. What I have found on the 50-200 Boke is the transition in the highlights is very harsh especially in high contrast areas. Yes the 50-200 can be separated. But what I find on the 90-250 that is so good is the toning in of the background without the harsh separation . The background on the 50-200/bigma has to be at infinity and and thing in between can get a bit fuzzy and I mean really busy.

I Did order some 105mm Lens caps from Fleabay. $12 for 2. :) Oh yes and 3 X EP7's as I am always losing them.

If you get the bokeh wrong in the 50-200, it can really look ugly.

I'm interested if the 90-250 doesn't do at all (or rarely) or if the few test shots to date are within its "good bokeh envelop". If it never (or rarely) does this in a variety of shooting conditions, that would definitely be a plus over the 50-200.
 
Congratulations Colin, I would love to try this lens out myself, along with the 300. Is it comfortable to hand hold? Or would you need to use a vehicle/tripod? I am coming back to southern Africa next month, to do some diving in Mozambique and then a safari in Kruger. Can't wait! :)

Yeah, that lens WILL improve your results, although I see little to complain about with what I've seen of your work. I STILL believe we'll eventually see something from Oly that will allow us to use these marvelous lenses and upgrade the IQ they so richly deserve. Let us see some of your results ASAP.

Yes, a round trip from Denver, USA to Johannesburg, SA plus that price for the lens would still be less than one can normally get that lens. And I even have the passport. Not a bad deal indeed. :-)

The dog has a worried look on his face. He has seen the lens and fears you buy him a pack to haul the load around on safari.

I own this lens and it is really nice, but it has also helped me appreciate the size, weight and quality of the 50-200mm lens. I just returned from a trip--I take both lenses with me--the 50-200mm for hand held and the 90-250mm for the tripod.
