Yesterday I drove down to Elizabethtown, KY to Swope's Cars of Yesteryear Museum to photograph some classic autos. This was the first time I photographed cars inside a museum and it was a good learning experience for me. Luckily there were hardly any people there at this local museum so it was an almost perfect environment to experiment and learn. Did I make some errors? Yeah, for example, I wasn't really paying attention to my shutter speed but mainly on the composition. Except for the first 3 outside shots all photos were taken at ISO 200 / DR 200 with apertures of F2 - F2.8 handheld (all JPEGs). The thing that saved me was the X20's great IS. Not all the hood ornament photos came out focus right … maybe I should have use spot metering? I really should have taken more time shooting. I did not use a flash for any exterior shots but I did use the X20's pop-up flash for interiors. I couldn't touch the cars but the lady who was working there kindly opened some of the car doors for my interior shots. That was very nice of her to do that and I thanked her! Also, for the first time, I used a small piece of frosted Scotch tape put in front of the pop-up flash to better disperse and soften the light. I'm not really sure if this helped but I didn't think it would hurt. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the photos….these are some of my favorites…
