How to see compressed NEF files on iPad

I import D800E's jpeg and nef files into iPad using apple's lighting to sd card camera reader. However iPad only displays the jpegs and compressed NEFs. The compressed nefs are invisible, hence cannot be transferred or deleted.

Please let me know if you have the same problem and if there's a solution to view D800E compressed nefs on iPad. I am also interested to know which compressed camera raws that iPad can display. What's your experience with cameras which record compressed raw files but not the uncompressed's such as the D90?

I am travelling in Europe and have the same issue. I had hoped to be able to use actual pixels to check quality. Any suggestions would be welcome.

You didn't say which iPad version.

You will need a RAW capable photo editor of viewing RAW files. There's plenty. You could use PhotoRAW, Shuttersnitch, and others should all work to view them. You should be aware of Apple's 21 or 22 MP max resoultion per image (iPad4). The D800 has a 36MP sensor which over the stated limit.

Try PhotoRAW for IOS. If you only have one camera, PhotoRAW Lite might work.
