Please help!-don't know if 58mm tube ring fits canon SX50-HS

I am not sure what you ordered but before doing anything, you will need a 58mm adapter that locks into the lens of the camera. This left on and will give you a 58mm connection to anything (filter etc) that size.

Yes but like Jay said, you'll need an adapter ring first. The SX50 doesn't have threads on the end of the lens barrel. Just think of the ring as adding threads to the barrel (something every other camera I've owned already had!) The barrel is 58mm so yes, 58mm lenses will work.

While a little pricey the Lensmate 58mm adapter works very well on the SX50.

I don't think you did understand. what i've but is a filter adapter that in one end connects to the canon sx40 (and sx30 sx20...) and the other and connects to 58mm accessories (for example a filter).the other thing that comes with the adapter is a square filter holder that fits 58mm. i'm worried that the filter adapter doesn't fit my canon sx50.

one thing i know is that the filter adapter in the link doesn't mount like the lensmate 58mm adapter for the canon sx cameras. with the lensmate you only need to turn it 90 degrees, and the adapter i ordered mounts like a screw (i guess...).

The SX50 lens is slightly larger than those on the SX10-SX40s so you may have a problem if your adapter doesn't say it fits the SX50? Of course you can give it a try but I wouldn't force it.

If your adaptor mounts with a thread, it doesn't fit either the SX20,30,40, or 50, despite the claims of the vendor.

You'll need the bayonet type adaptor as per Lensmate or canon.
