I have a wireless remote on the way.

FreeWave Wireless Remote Shutter Release

-----------------------------------------------------

Will be ordering a green (the size and style) Pod.

The (Green) Pod

----------------------------------------------

Want to buy a Joby GorillaPod but not sure which one to get. The Hybrid or the SLR Zoom model.

GorillaPod Hybrid

----------------------------------------------

Flash diffuser (for on-board flash). I had one on my Oly 2100UZi. It just snapped around the lens barrel. Not sure if I need a diffuser or a flash bounce. This would be for indoor close ups using the flash. I'm having a hard time finding something for an onboard flash. Here is a flash bounce I found. Any opinions and ideas of what to look at? Bounce or diffuser?

Pop Up Bounce

Thanks!

I did not realize we could use wireless remote with the sx50... is that just something I have not found in the menu? Let me know how it goes. I am interested.

I think I would get the SLR gorilla pod.. the hybrid looks small to me.

also interested what you find for pop up flash...

I will be following this post.

What on earth happened to the rest of my message? :o

Gus, did you see anything other than the mention of the wireless remote?

I had a list of 3 more accessories I'm considering and I KNOW they were there when I posted it originally :o

This is all I see of my original post:

Gus, a remote for the SX50 has to have a transmitter and a receiver. I read all 162 reviews on B&H. It's highly recommended.

I have a (red) Pod and need the green one that has the off-set mount for cameras with large zooms.

Not sure whether to get the Hybrid or the SLR-Zoom size GorillaPod. My camera is 1.8lbs. The Hybrid is good for "up to" 2.2lbs. The SLR-Zoom model holds up to 6.6 lbs

No idea if I need a flash bounce or diffuser and am looking for ideas.

Well, I've spent the last several hours researching the following accessories for my SX50 and bought them. B&H and Adorama were the same price, free shipping and no tax. I may have gone one size higher than I needed with the GorillaPod but I'd rather it be more strength than I need than too light weight.

How about a clear lens protector/filter? Twice now I have forgotten to put the cap back on, simply because I haven't used a lens cap in about 10 years :(

I had a simple clear filter on all my Ricoh lenses

I already have a UV filter for protection. Also a polarizer filter and a lens hood.

I will Hossam. I'm anxious to get it. Had a remote with an Olympus cam and sorely missed it with my Canons S3. That's mainly why I bought the two different tripods (for hands free shooting).

I never use them. First thing I bought was the lens hood. It's always on, except with the filter adapter and polarizer - unfortunately the adapter I got doesn't allow for the hood to be mounted at the same time.

Will this remote also work with e SX40? Its a great price! Ive used remote shutter releases before on my DSLR's and work great to eliminate shake so to say. Long zoom shots and macro basically buy I always frame first. I dont understand the benefit of being away from the cam 50' though. Admittedly I understand the value of the remote but apparently don't know how you can really exploit it. Any help would be great. I wanna get one but Im so pleased with the IS now on my 40 (I really dont do Macro) how can I use it in creative ways? Even a link would help. Im learning so much here and thank you all.

I've got the smaller gorillapod which is wonderful for the sx50
Which model do you have? I have the original that I bought for my SD950, and it seems a little flimsy for the SX50. Or maybe it was because I was using it on my deck railing.

Mark,

The mini-port is a new feature on the SX50 and it is here that remote release receivers and cable releases are connected. Unfortunately the SX40 does not have one and I don't remember anyone coming up with a compatible solution for that camera. If it's just my memory, maybe someone figured out something and will chime in, but I don't know how it would be connected.
