Am I the only one that loved the K-30's unconventional design?

Nothing wrong with the K30 design. Looks quite nice sitting on my desk.

I like my K-30 quite a bit, but its appearance is easily the *least* important aspect to me. DSLRs in general are all boring looking compared to something like the K-01 which I find very stylish - or any of the myriad of mirrorl-ess pseudo-retro bodies currently on the market. No, my homely K-30 just gets the job done, which is all that I really care about.

I never met a K-mount camera I didn't Lo..er... Like a lot. Okay, the Q but it isn't dislike so much as disinterest. :-) Well, that's not K-mount is it, so there you have it.

The new ones are definitely growing on me, a bit curvy but still Pentax. Shame though that the grip has lost the finger groove.

I don't own one but i've always liked it's design , and habitually i like black or the od style Silver and black.... but if i would buy a K30 i would choose the blue one.

I do not own the K-30, so my opinion is unbiased. The K-50/500 is definitely nicer. If nothing else, at least the built in flash is not protruding so much (and for no reason :-) ).

Don't opinions always carry some sort of bias?

I love the K-30 design, much more than the new K-50 / K-500. It's sporty look perfectly complements that fact that it's a weather sealed camera, great for outdoor photography in ALL kinds of weather / conditions.

And aside from looks, I can guarantee that the notch on the grip is more comfortable and secure than the K-50's more smooth, conventional grip.

I'm not sure who decided for others that the K-30's design is odd, but whoever these people are should understand that taste is a subjective thing. I absolutely hate boring, conventional things, and am a strong believer that designers shouldn't simply phone it in, and recycle old, dull camera designs year after year. I applaud Pentax designers for trying to push the envelope and for creating one of the coolest looking DSLRs ever - the K-30.

My K-30, showing off her nice looking figure. :-)

Cheers, and happy shooting, Markus

If I hadn't recently purchased the K-01, this one would be on its way to me right now. The red one seems to be cheapest, and I don't mind its looks at all.

I quite liked the K-30 'Hikers' camera, the latest one doesn't have the same appeal. It is a camera for girls!

The K30 is a better camera! It is designed to fit my hands, those curves on the latest one are horrible and impractical!

Ricoh will mess Pentax up! I bet their engineers are fuming!

Actually, I never really cared for the K-30 design myself, and like the K-50 much better.
