Have sony a57 recently purchased Cannon 6d-now thinking of taking back for a99

Return the canon while you still can. Then pause a moment or just go get the a99. You will love the full frame and the EVF. It's much better than the a57. For what these cameras cost, you have to love it. Don't try to talk yourself into it after you've bought it - if it doesn't really work for you, it doesn't. The a57 works for you, so try the a99 - it's more like the a57 than the 6D.
Yes.. taking back the 6d and lens. Will receive check back after a couple of weeks. Will bank it and think. Ty ty ty
Most likely watch you all hear from me holding the a99 in my hand. Hugs

Thank you everyone. Here is what I was thinking. Guess I was wrong. But here is what I was thinking. Doing what I do now I have met so many newborn and children photographers. Its a different style of editing and photographyn. They all have cannon mark iii . They say because you only shoot natural light stepping up to a full frame larger sensor is the way to go. I need to be able to borrow their lenses too. That's quite a bonus ifI went full frame cannon. I cant swallow the 4000.oo for the mark 3 so I started looking at all their advice about 6d. Ordered it. Because I am like omg...I have 15 days to return. Why not? But I sat here for a day looking at my photos and either iam just so darn use to my a57. But overwhelmed with this 6d. I also didnt have the extra 500.oo for the a99. You know when choosing which system one wants to invest in iam a no name dont care chic. Dont care. But when you can borrow lenses. It does change the game. Are you all saying to me a larger sensor wouldnt better serve me in natural light photography. Or a larger sensor full frame would not serve me better in my business? If I get real serious? Invest in lenses. Heck I only need a few. Portrait, macro for those cute eyelashes and toes. Etc, I didnt jump ship as one of you said to me. Lol.. are yoj kidding me. You all are and have been so kind to me. But maybe I didnt explain myself right. My sony a57 went nuts on me. It would lock down on something in focus. It did all kinds of strange things. Another photographer was also with me and kept saying its the chip. I dont know anything technical but went into the shop twice. Came back from
I do child photography too. A full frame camera like the A99 in invaluable. And you REALLY need to invest in your own lenses. You cannot always be dependent on having Canon (note it's 1 N, not 2) shooters around who will be able to loan you lenses.

The A99 is ideal - I use the fast AF in live view and the articulating LCD all the time for the "close to the ground" shots or to not let the kids realize I'm taking their picture - they lose the "candidness" once they see you lift a camera to your face.
Thank you for sharing with me that full frame would be invaluable. Thank you so much.
Also it has been so odd not using the tilt screen. I so miss that. In fact just practicing in my yard I kept trying to pull the sceen out. Lol cant do this on the 6d. Also omg when using the 6d my live view screen is so smudged from my face smashing into it shooting. Blahhh.. constantly wiping off screen because its sitting right there at you. Does the sony a99 screen flip so the screen isnt always showing? Like the a57. Silly question in a way but my lip prints and nose print all over the screen is irritating. Hugs
Yup, you can flip it so the screen is "inside". I use this as a protection during transportation too.

But do you all think iam not ready for the a99. Keep in mind I went without a camera for three weeks each time it was in the shop. So I need another camera regardless to my a57. Thanks my friends
The learning curve from an A57 to an A99 is not big. You'll learn to *love* the extra controls, and the FF lenses you buy for the A99 can still be used on the A57 (so you can shoot with 2 bodies, one for wide shots, one for telephoto, really really helps tons)

In life some of the best ways I learn is by making mistakes. I made a mistake. But learned alot from all of you.

Thank you

Hi

I read all the replays here and on the canon forum

First/ your pictures are great (from reading your first replays and from your description I though you're clueless but the pictures say other wise I think you don't give yourself enough credit you are really good . )

second/ it seems to me that you only don't know some of the technical stuff and thankfully there is a great book that will help you master your A57 or A99 ,the books I and most reader recommend is Gary Friedman book (and I recommend the 22$/26$ digital download version ((there is a book for each camera)) ) I think that knowing the technical stuff will add a lot to your already existing photography skills

ahhhhh and the canon forum, no comment on some of the replays their on your thread ,just don't go there again . :-P

(P.S sorry about my english it's not very good "yet" )

It's better to pick one camera, stay with it and learn it. Your success in this type of work is more about your creativity (which you have) and how you work with people (which you have). I think of some of the great photojournalists (Bruce Davidson, W Eugene Smith, Mary Ellen Mark, whomever). The last thing they do is push the shutter. It's all about relating to people and caring about the world they inhabit. You got that. Have fun.

When you used your A57, what do your have your focus set at? Are you using the center point, or are you letting your camera decide?

IMO, if you can afford the jump in weight and cost, the jump to FF is worth it. I love the pics that come out of my A850.. when I dont mind the added bulk. If you have the money, buy the A99. Its $2800, with that F60AM flash and Vertical grip. You may be able to recoup about $600 of that, if you sell the extras. IMO, the best features of Sony FF is the Inbody stabilization of primes and the availability of cheap lenses.

IF You have a friend who works at a large corporation.... you might be able to get 10% off at Sonystyle, using Corporate perks. Each person who has Corp perks can invite up to 5 people. (I already used mine :(

To start, I would suggest buying the Minolta 24-85mm or the 28-105mm RS. Add a Minolta 1:1 50MM macro ($175)

Thank you again... headed out now and return the canon 6d. Yes its kind of shocking over their on the canon section. They seemed to have it out for me. Not all but I have to giggle wondering if they weren't hiding behind their computers and me in person would have been oh so rude. I dont even know what a troll is... let alone being called a fake account as if I just decided to hop on over their and make stuff up. So truly odd. My goodness shoot I would purchase a sony just so I can get help from you all. That was really sad. Very very scary ovee there. But that being said I cant thank you enough for explaining my next move. I shoot in manual lately and well. Lol. I will be asking you all soon enough about focusing cant get two or more people in a shot focused right. With my a57- ayayyaa. Have of course so much to learn. But really truly want a full frame. Now that I realized a few more new things since the 6d purchase. Mostly its not for me because Iam not technically there. I thank God I came to you all and put my post up here. Wow...now to save another 800.oo and I will surely purchase the a99. Hugs to all for your support and kindess.

Just came back from returning.6d. Felt right and awesome to be away from my one post I ever made on the canon section. Whewwwww. Will save and begin my plans for the a99

Why do you want a full frame camera?
Hi. I wanted full frame for larger sensor. I shoot mostly in my home. Natural light. Hugs
NP,...I've watched this thread and been impressed with your patience with the several posts telling you to "learn to use what you have,...." etc. My take on that is, get what you want and what you can afford. I do a lot of long zoom, so I like the crop factor of my a77. However, I looked at the a99 since I always want something new (even before I learn to use what I have). I was surprised at how heavy it is. I'm sure you'll handle one before you buy it. Around the house, it should be an amazing camera.

Good luck,....you would have really missed the EVF of the Sonys. That has saved many pictures for me when I forgot to reset ISO from 3200 after early morning shooting. I like seeing what I'm going to get,....

I know Jack your absolutely correct. Having only an a57 as my first camera. Trying to learn on my own . I tell ya my lack of knowledge got me in heep of new learning. Lol... evf. .even that simple yet amazing feature changes my whole way of being able to do what I do. I love it and would be awful without it. Heck if I has the technical side down I still think I would want an evf and peaking. My eyesight just isnt what it was. Seeing glowing flickering lights and knowing iam locked in on focus. Is a huge Rimportant factor...I just began playing with manual focus a few weeks ago on my a57. Game changer. Hugs

Really?

Just a couple of days before your post you said you think you'll wait and get the 5D3 and you still cannot spell Canon. Are you for real or just jerking people around on here? This is a serious question.

She is real and not jerking around. Lighten up!

There are some odd things, though. This person has repeatedly said that this is her "first camera". Yet her website claims that she has had developed her "passion for photography at an early age".

I personally don't care if she's been shooting for half a century or if she took her first photo yesterday. It's just frustrating to encounter questions around here and try to be helpful only to end up having to suspect the authenticity of the original poster because of enormous inconsistencies in what they say.

I have read that many times on photography websites, usually from those that buy a camera and then go to make money with it unlike the "about" page from a professional photographer. Many, many kids are given a camera at a young age but that does not make them a child prodigy. I'd say most photos take my young kids won't make it around until they are even 18.

I am not sure who I am answering to here. What is up with you people!!!! what is up with someof you!!!!I am just a mom who bought a camera a few months ago. I love to take photos. I call my first real camera a sony a57. Because I am a mom of course I shot photos with a camera before some of you you ding bats.. whoever it is that is giving me such a hard time. What is wrong with some of you people. You want to know if I am real? No I am just a figment of your imagination trying to freaking learn photography the best I can in a world that seems to be filled with many of you oh so negative people. Some of you are awesome. But others.. MY GOISH.. what is wrong with you!? I cant spell worth crap.. OH who CARES!!! why do you care???? get a life!!! Now yes you got a razzle out of me only because I cant get past the unkindess shame on you!! Oh and if this reply is in the wrong section pleaaaaaaaaaaaase forgive me!!!

Take a moment those that seem to have such issues with what I ask? go back and follow my post.
Who takes the time to look up my website. Thank you for that. IAM NEW AS A PHOTO TAKER GETTING PAID MY LITTLE BIT OF MONEY I ONLY ASK FOR!! I have always loved photography. I have always taken photos. What did I say in my website that is so offensive. But to learn the actual art of photography. Now that is what I am trying to do!!!! if you looked at my website awesome. What is wrong with you? I have taken photos. Here pick up camera snap snap. always!! yes. I am a mother for goodness sake!!!!!!!! first and foremost!!!!!! Don't be so paranoid. What are you whacking out for anyways. I ask some questions. Learning!!! I am human and very much for real. Funny dare ya to meet me and say what you say to me.. because you wouldn't be able too!~!!!!!!!!!! because I am real!!!!! infact if you met me in person and not hide behind a computer you would also not have the balls to sound as you do.!!!!!! Shame shame shame on anyone who cant take a moment follow the persons original post to see if they are real and help or not help. Don't want to help move on!! how old are some of you!!! Do you have a life???? or just spend time going through post and if the person just doesn't sit right with you slam them? Shameful!!!!

In one way I feel as though I am back in highshool with my sons friends or something on here!

Thank you so much for those that are kind. MY GOISH!!! this world is crazy let alone some of you on this site!!!

Blessings to those who even are mean.. and Blessings to those who choose to be kind!

My question though is what am I doing that is setting a few of you off so strange!!!! I am who I am!!!!!! A woman who came here way back in Oct. Thought of a bridge camera, then decided with the help of the nice sony people a slt a57 then got bombarded with can you take photos of me, my kids, my babies, my wedding.. that I said NO!!!!, then decided I would take and try and get paid something for what I do. I love what I do. I need to learn a lot!! yes!!!!! I would never disagree. Set up a website, so people can purchase or not!!!, I am cheap!!!!! cheaper probably then I really truly should be for all that I offer. My shoots aren't a half an hour.. their 4-5 hours.. mostly free. Want to buy some photos great.. don't.. don't!!!! Have always shot photos.. Of course I am a mother!!!!!!! a couple of months ago really decided I should make a name and maybe charge!!!! decided to get a full frame camera! OH M G do you all hear yourself ( some of you) making fools of yourself over me!! WHY? for what? cause what did you say.. you don't know if I am real!!! oh Lorsh give me strength. I honestly had no clue that my post on the canon 6d section about a camera would go to such a ridiculous extreme. Where people are being so kind and saying of course she is real!!!!!!! You don't think I am the person on the photo or I am real. I am exactly her. Exactly me. Don't like.. kiss my you know what!!!!!

Oh okay, if you didn't realize I was a woman before guess ya know now!!!!
