I can't follow you. The t4i is a significant upgrade to the t3i...something I would do (and did) in a heartbeat.
Sure. But the T5i isn't a significant upgrade (body-wise anyway) to the T4i. No sense keeping the T4i and the T5i in the lineup simultaneously as they are de facto the same camera.

im not sure...while it certainly appears the t4i and t5i are redundant, unless you want the t5i features the t4i is a screaming bargain until there is no more t4i stock.
I think we all agree that the t4i and t5i ave very similar. This is why I think that Canon cancelled the t4i. Since they are similar most people would buy the discounted t4i over the t5i new camera premium price. Therefore you would not sell many t5i's, where you make more profit. How do you get around that. Discontinue the t4i. Now your choices are t3i, at very good prices, or the new t5i with a bunch of upgraded features (compared to t3i) that you can charge a premium for. You can no longer charge this premium on the t4i as it is now a year old model.

With the arrival of 700D/100D which Canon will be the next to be discontinued? 600D? 1100D? I have not seen yet an official statement about this.
Why does it matter? When the T5i came out, the T4i essentially was discontinued and out of production. Same for the T3. The next one to be discontinued should be the 60D when the 70D comes out. After that it will be the 7D when the 7D2 comes out.

From DPReview's "preview" of the T5i/700D: "the changes over the 650D are so subtle that it's the older T3i/600D that stays on alongside the 700D - while the too-similar 650D fades into the sunset."

I don't know what their source is.
Manfacturers always say this for cameras to help customers be enticed to buy the replaced camera helping to get rid of stock so they don't think they are buying a "discontinued" camera.

It matters chances are there the camera cant be repaired and need replacement if some one say after year have issue if product by that time stopped before Q'13 wat is the possiblility of replacement of same mode they have to give either 650d if not 700d

I do know that some older discontinued lenses are not repairable, a number of years after they've been discontinued, but I haven't heard of a dSLR.

While a warranty expires after a specific period of time, Canon can still repair a camera after the warranty period has expired even if the camera has been discontinued.

ummm, every camera will be discontinued at some point. you will never know the point at which an older model is not repairable until it needs repair.

I don't think we have any real disagreements here - yes the T4i is a screaming bargain but makes no sense to keep two such similar models in the lineup (T4i and T5i) side by side, and the T5i must be considered to be the better of the two. Meanwhile, the T3i is still a very big step up from the 1100D (whatever its other name is, I forget) for those who want to spend less and still have 18mp, the 'better' version of the Rebels' finish and appearance, and a flip twist screen.

I bought my T3i with both kit zooms, the Pixma 9000 Mark II pro color printer, and about $100 additional in extras for $599. (B&H / Canon rebate deal, I paid $999 and got a $400 rebate fro that.) Regardless of the T4i and T5i's updated AF and touch screen, that is still a wild bargain.

I sold off my XSi and the two new kit zooms (which I already had) and upgraded from XSi to T3i and got the excellent color printer and other stuff for a net out of pocket cost of $137. For me that is the most amazing deal I've seen on anything Canon.

The T4i and T5i are better I know, but I suspect that my next move up will probably be to the 60D or whatever its replacement is.

In our Sunday's newspaper, Canon had a glossy, multipage, advertisement. Among other cameras, it included the T3i and T3, but no T4i.

(The T5i, SL1, and SX 500 IS were on the front page.)
