Your outdoor night shots are fine. These semi fish-eye get boring rather quickly. A fish-eye should be used very sparingly on special subjects. Granted it's probably a new toy but why now show just your best shots?

I'm as much a noob as anyone but I'll try to offer my view.

To be perfectly honest, there isn't a single picture here that I find interesting. Not saying that to be mean, just to say that I don't see any particularly subject/point of interest to focus on. First off I think you are posting far too many pictures. If you want decent feedback, post your best 3 or 4. So many of these are similar to the others that there is no need to post so many pics. I think 3 well thought out and composed images are far better than 20 poor/fair/ok ones.

Second, you are going way overboard with the fisheye. As a general rule I agree with the above poster that it should be used sparingly. Maybe if you were a fisheye prodigy you could use it for 75% of your shots, but that's not the case for most people.

My suggestion would be to put the fisheye in a drawer for a while and practice composition with a regular rectilinear lens. For most people, I'd say the fisheye is the wrong type of lens to start learning photographic composition. Don't spread yourself too thin. Stick with a "normal" lens, read a short book about composition (there are zillions of good ones), and practice with that until you get comfortable and find your style. After that you can pull out the fisheye again but keep in mind that composition with a fisheye is a totally different ballgame than with a rectilinear lens.

Hope you find this somewhat helpful.

first you need to curate.

delete 90% of these and post your best shots.

nobody can give you useful critique until you critique yourself and just show a selection of your best.

also, i think youve used a fisheye because you have a fisheye. as a result, you shots have become architectural and have lost the feeling of the street

Lighting -

Pretty much all of the images in daytime could be improved by you taking them when the light is more interesting and making sure you are getting the best angle to make use of the light.

As they stand, they come across more of a documentation of where you have been for reference purposes as opposed to photos taken for aesthetic reasons.

The most common mistake in using a fisher eye and WA lens is to leave the foreground devoid of anything interesting, pushing and squeezing everything back in the background. I think people who wish to seek CC should first ask themselves what they wish to show so that we can tell you whether you have succeeded or not. It is hard to see any meaning in these severely distorted images, before we can even begin to talk about composition.

I was taught that you should shoot with a fish eye lens in such a way, that no one would know the picture was taken with a fish eye lens. And for me in many of your pictures it is a distraction that everything is so unnaturally rounded. But it's a personal taste of course, and some of your pictures are really nice.

It's true you have posted too many images in one go. But I like them a lot. It has been a long time since I was in Singapore and I am sure it has changed but these are shots of a Singapore that I don't recognize and so I find them interesting. In general I agree with the idea that a fisheye can get boring quickly when it is so obvious, but here it somehow seems appropriate that it is obvious. I like all that empty space, its not what we usually expect when we think of Asia. I would push the idea to really extreme limits but then pick out just a few keepers.

I agree with some of the other previous posts in regard to the over use of the fish-eye. Looking through the photos, I truly started to feel a little motion sick.

All that being said, I am a beginner and still trying to learn what makes a great photo. I hope that you won't be discouraged by any feedback and look at all of these posts as a way to move you along your journey.

I noticed you posted a set in another series. I like those much better!! :-)

Yes too much fisheye. You also need to get more intimate with your subjects. Too far away.

Thanks for your feedback everyone, will take note on my next shoot.

You are blowing the highlights pretty badly with some of your your outdoor fisheye shots. You need to dial in -1 to -1.5 EV with those outdoor shots and lift the shadows in PP because the fisheye will usually blow highlights outdoors somewhere in the image if the light is strong.

Bad images are GOOD ... as it's mistakes we learn best from. But you don't have to post every one of yours here. This is more of a gear forum than a image reviewing place. I suggest you look for a forum more related to artistic feedback to post examples like these.

Take time to look at what's typically posted in the forum so your contribution of images fits the general purpose. For this forum we're usually trying to learn about new cameras so a few of your best can show it off while some images can be posted as help to illustrate problems. I usually try to limit my image posting to about 6 at a time ... tho I just recently broke that rule as I felt more were needed to tell the story. Think about making a contribution rather than just showing off your ....

In general I think a viewer here in the Micro Four Thirds wants to be educated and entertained seeing the best shots users get from their NEW cameras.

Be best for you (and us) if you try to learn photography elsewhere.

It gets very boring (annoying even) very quickly.

Please next time don't post so many pictures on one post. Make a second or third post to show them. Dpreview advice on rules is 10 pictures max, per post'.

It's hard to generalize since there are so many photos,

But fisheye is not appropriate for all of these photos and

some of them are overexposed, whites blown out

Perspective is important. Try some interesting perspectives, such as close ups, ground up, etc.

Generally from top down is not as interesting unless it is a panorama

Just my 2 cents

the ones, you think are the best or the most provocative.

THEN I even would think about starting to comment.

Just one thing: I never thought streets in Singapore are so empty. There are more people in the streets of Unterherbolzweiler (pop. 640). ;)

Agree: It is impossible to commment on more than 5-6 pictures.

No, no, no: Many posts here show some nice pictures people take with their mFT gear. This is entertaining, sometimes exhilarating, sometimes consoling ("This guy's pictures are even worse than mine."), sometimes boring (more pets without warning).

I would miss a lot, if there were less images here!!

This is a generalisation without any data. And I learned a lot by pictures taken with gear as old as a G1 or EPL1.

Rather unfriendly remark, that.

Peter.
