Ooooooo like. Built in ND filter and multiple exposures will be fun.

Good spot, thanks for posting.

mmhh...

just another late iteration of that concept? Leica X-1 and X-2, Nikon Coolpix A,....

No integrated viewfinder, 28 mm not-so-fast lens, APS-C sensor. It's more a "mee too" product than a unique offer.

Why simply not to redesign the 28 mm lensor module for the GXR (if an update was required)?

I agree that I want those things (especially integrated finder) but it's still very tempting. I went from GRDiv to X100s.

The X100s is very nice (and I haven't used it enough) but I still love Ricoh size, handling, etc.

if this lens is anything like the f2.8/28 of the original GR than it's a winner and it's digital successor, the original had a VF though ;)

They have indeed kept it small. It's only 2mm taller than an RX100 and actually 2mm shallower. The width is greater, but that's an excellent thing for better grip. Speaking of which it seems to be a more square grip as per the GXR.

I took some screen grabs for our viewing and discussion pleasure:

The GRD IV is 59mm high x 33mm deep x 109 wide

New effects button on side

Lens extended

Same as GRD IV

New AEL lever and Play button now under the plus-minus lever

And to keep Tom happy - there is no red video button. It could be the black button in the AEL/CAF lever though.

Simply I do not understand the advantage of such a model (I would say the same for Coolpix A and Leica x series): the slightly lower dimensions against X100s or compact mirorrless ILC is not that really great selling point in my opinion.
The new GR is only 2mm higher and deeper than the current GRD.

The Fuji XS100 is actually much larger than even the GXR in every dimension, so there's no comparison when it comes to the GR's size.

Yes!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so excited now! The minute I find a dealer, I'm placing a preorder. And it won't be in Australia because we always get these things too bl##dy late and too bl##dy expensive. I want this as soon as I can get one.

The lens barrel extends in just one section, and it looks so fast!

The mode dial is interesting. Video function has a dedicated stop, rather than being buried in the Scene mode like the GXR and GRD. Also, what is 'TAV', along with Aperture and Shutter Priority?

Also, it looks like it accommodates four stops of EV. Interesting!

No doubt there will be an official Japanese 'mook' for the GR. Another thing to add to the shopping cart when the time comes.

It's something that Pentax dSLRs have been offering:

it's like an M mode with Auto ISO, that is one chooses aperture and shutter speed manually and the camera will choose the appropriate ISO to expose correctly

More quick observations:

- the live view display places the image all the way to the top edge, leaving a black strip free to display shooting data

- no phase detection sensors on the front, but rumoured specs say that AF is much faster than before. I wonder how they are achieving this speed?

- no EVF port, therefore no EVF option. Maybe they will continue with the GXR line?

- bokeh looks soft and silky. I will have to compare this with the GXR A12 28.

The nice thing about TAv mode is that it supports EV compensation. I believe M mode with Auto ISO does not (at least it does not in the Pentax K-01) and I think some other makes.

It wonder if Hyper-program is available in the GR?

I believe that TAv mode is unique to the upper line of Pentax dSLRs. The K-01 doesn't have it but it does have auto ISO in M mode which amounts to the same. So do Nikon dSLRs I read but I believe hardly any other make has it.

I want one, IT will probably have digital zoom, with this sensor a 4x mustt be possible without significant loss for 4x6 print.

As JPEG shooter, i rally appreciate the EFFECT button.

The size is still ok for being pockatable

Only th epric etag will keep it a niche product, i know Nikon A, Leice X2, Fujifilm, all cost the same or even much more.
