Should we have to guess which lens it is?

I'll go for a guess at a 70-300 sigma
sorry not on purpose .....its the nikon 70-300 vr........its blows away my 1st gen 18-200
Your copy of the 70-300VR is definitely sharper than mine. Maybe you should buy a lottery ticket as well! :-)

Count me as another fan of the Nikon 70-300. If I used that range more I'd upgrade to the 70-200 f4 but since I don't, I find the (relative) lightness and compactness of the 70-300 very useful.

As others have said, at its best from 70 to around 210-220, though very useable all the way to 300mm.

The 70-300VR punches far above its weight and is pretty sharp even at 300 in the center somewhat away from infinity.

It even has beautiful bokeh under the right conditions.

Hi,

Your images are lovely. I find them bright and crisp. Which Picture mode your are using? Standard/Vivid or... Have altered settings of sharpness/contrast etc. Ive just now uploaded images from my D7100, I would like your CC too.

in nx2 i usualy have settings as follows

1. direct sun or flash , somtimes auto 2

2. mostly always set for standard or portait for people shots

3. sharp +2

4.contrast + 6-9 depends

of course this is always fror RAW....

this lens really requires very little to make it pop

very sharp ! I really think this lens is a keeper , now i need some models to see how it does in controlled lighting for head shots . nature shots seem great no doubt

I don't have a D7100, but, I always felt impressed by my 18-200mmVRI on my D200. However, I am using a 28-300mmVR on my D700, and, its pretty amazing.
