Mike,

I'm pretty certain they're gray, but Canon is one of the few companies that honors international warranties within the US. I've bought gray Canon lenses from Delta International before without problem; but the prices at Hotbuyelectronics are much lower; they even rival prices of uses lenses at B&H and Keh.

From their policies page:
  • USA Warranty may be additional.
Don't know if these are USA models, but at these prices I doubt it.

I was thinking of buying a lens from them, but did some web searching first. I found a customer review site with several people unhappy with them.

Evidently they sell grey-market merchandise without telling anyone and have a really poor record of accepting returns. I went to B&H instead. Caveat Emptor.
Anyone buy any gear from Hotbuyelectronics.com? They have great
prices on EOS lenses:

I pretty much buy all my lenses from them at this point.

Sidney's the fellow I chat with.

They have a typical brusk NYC attitude but a little bit of humor goes along ways.

Also, they love to tell you stories about plastic mounts and metal mounts and they're always out of gray market stuff which is what their price is based on.

I bought a 16-35mm f/2.8L from them today and I expect to receive it on Tuesday, next week.

Total price, with FedEx two day was $1299.00US. The lens itself was $1,266.00US and shipping was $33.00. Sounds like shipping's expensive but none of the lenses I've received from them have had the "I've been opened" feel:-)

I've made four or five lens purchases from them and a printer. And since I just picked up another lens from them today, I guess that says I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again:-)

Tell Sidney that Thomas Gardner from San Jose sent you. It won't get you a discount but it will give you an intro:-) That and a dollar, yada, yada, yada:-)

Hope this helps.

What a coincidence ! On Tuesday I placed an order with them on Sigma 15-30mm for my 10D. Advertised price was $429.98 comparing with $549 in B&H. Few hours later I got a phone call asking for "order confirmation", quite a bizzare practice. The guy told me that for this price I could get a poor quality, plastic version made in Thailand ?! and he strongly recommended Japanese made version for $467.98. I am not an expert in this area, so I agreed especially that it was still much less than at B&H. The lens has been shipped on Wednesday via FedEx and this afternoon I received it!!

I immediately connected it to my 10D and shot 10 pictures at home with excellent results. I am very happy although the lens is heavy and big.
Warranty card apparently covers US!!
So all together I cannot complain on the service.
