Not quite the Cherry blossom time here in Kyoto, but here are a few of the colorful Ume(plum) blossoms from a couple of weeks back.

Cheers

SG

Except this one (don't know!) all Ume (plum) blossoms from Kitano tenmangu shrine in Kyoto

Gorgeous! We had plum blossoms just a week ago; the sakura have popped out as it's been rather hot (> 20C) in Tokyo over the last week or so.

Some great shots here. Nice work everyone.

Here up north in Aomori, it's -4 C and snowy. Sakura season isn't until late April!
But, here's a picture I took from 2012 in Hirosaki. The photo quality isn't that spectucular since it was from a Canon S95 on a overcast day, but I figured I'd post it.

Sakura in Hirosaki, Aomori-ken, Japan. Taken with Canon S95.

A little bit early for down here mate :-) :-) Way too early. So darn hot and dry this summer. Beautiful colours and shots and I'll enjoy this thread. Well done.

All the best.

Danny.

Each and every shot is a gem. Excellent work and shot. Love the colours and details.

All the best and extremely well done.

Danny.

Thank you Sir!

Arigatou gozaimasu -- wish I could be there to take my own photos....

At Dallas Arboretum. First with Sony NEX-3, rest with A55.

Hi. New to the forum and somewhat new to photography. Always enjoyed taking photos, and always used a P&S. With my first baby due in 2 months, I decided to upgrade my P&S (Panasonic Lumix TZ5 ... really liked this camera) to a NEX-5R. Still learning the ins and outs of the camera, manual mode, and post processing, but so far, I'm very pleased with the camera and the quality of the photos.

Here's my cherry blossum contribution taken a couple of weeks ago. I'm planning to take a lot more this week.

Martin - Lovely captures. Looks like this would be the week to come up to Tokyo to soak in on the Sakura fever?! Appreciate any info on locations besides Ueno koen, Chidorigafuchi etc.

Cheers

Thanks! Well, I recommend Shinjukugyoen and Nakameguro from first-hand experience this weekend. They're in full bloom now pretty much. Keep checking out my blog for updates! ;)

Just a few stray petals remain on the trees down here but I managed to get a snap or two in during the brief Sakura season. Here's the one I'm happiest with (cropped to fit my FB cover photo)

Very nice!

The strong winds this weekend have prised what blossoms remain from the trees.

I believe that outside of Tokyo, sakura is still going strong.

Yes, blossoms still on in some parts of Kyoto that with stood the heavy rain fall over the weekend. Been clicking the Sakura over the past few days here in Kyoto and here are some that are my favs. Hope you like them?!

Cheers
