E-PL3 for $300?

The EPL2 with lens on Amazon seems to be about $335 for the black one, decent price. Too bad Cameta is out of the refurbs, mine was only $179 and it is possibly the most fun camera I've ever owned (although I still love my G3). The refurb EPL3 is only $229.

Actually just saw a new EPL2 with lens on Adorama for $299.

Is brand new E-PL3 for $300 a good starting point for someone interested in M4/3 system?

Right now I have 5DIII with bunch of lenses and S95, was thinking about selling S95 and replacing it with E-PL3. Will be keeping my 5DIII.

Eventually if I like M43 will be getting OMD EM5 or what ever will be replacing it.
I'm sure someone has already said this but personally I would say keep the S95 if economically possible. Personally I don't see the E-PL3 as a replacement for the S95. S95 is a tiny pocketable camera. The E-PL3 (and all other m43 cameras) are not (well, unless you have huge pockets).

I think it's a good 3 choice systems. One pocket camera, one light systems camera and one big DSLR for those rare occasion that demands the best of the best.

Cameta has an EPL3 refurb with lens $299.95, without lens $229.95. Check it out. The refurbs from them are very, very nice.

read the reviews from Amazon Patrons... They tend to be on a positive side as most purchases do but, there's enough balance in them to help you decide.

E-PL3 Reviews

Personally, I would buy one of the refurbished E-PM2 kits on there as it is only about $100 more and you image quality closer to what you're used to in the High ISO range. The E-PL3 isn't bad but, it is no 5D MKIII and I'm concerned that getting something so drastically different would damage your opinion of an otherwise good system.

Here's a link to the Refurbished E-PM2 Kit with Free Shipping.

if I was to jump into m43 system, I would preffer Olympus for the build in sensor-shift technology
Well, it is only 2 axis in that body so, you don't get a real benefit until you get to the E-M5 as that has 5 axis. The Panny OIS Lenses will outperform the IBIS of the Pen series every time in my opinion. There are some tweaks to the body that allow you to decent output but, I can honestly say this implementation isn't as good as others I've seen.

Before others freak out, there are great IBIS systems out there (Pentax has a nice one and Oly's OMD is just as good) and I'm not saying you cannot get decent results with it.

The 2-axis IS still gives at least 2 stops advantage, not very different from most in lens systems.

And even most of the Panasonic lenses I would most want don't have IS (including the 14, 20, and 25), neither do the three Sigma DN lenses, or for that matter any of the Olympus lenses.

I guess different people will have different needs here, but for me IBIS is just a critical feature, I don't think I would buy a camera without it at this point.

Very true, which is why I am also using a GH2 which has less DR than the EPL5. I was onlu commenting on his remark on IQ. Good luck with your choice.

Pay an extra $150 and get an E-PM2 with the much better sensor.

And don't chuck the S95 if you like it, an E-PM2 is small and light, but not a pocket camera (unless it has a pancake lens and even then it's still not a pants pocket camera).
