I can't answer that question about shutter speed, I can only say that these photos were all taken in auto mode. I normally shoot my big dslr's in aperture priority and I have tried aperture priority with this V2 and it seems to work fine too. I just happened to be going to Zion this past Tuesday to take photos and decided to try auto mode even though I will probably end up primarily using aperture mode on the V2. I was very surprised to see how well the V2 does in auto mode and I wanted to share the photos on this forum.

So far, from what I've seen on the 10-100 VR has been pretty impressive. Just trying to justify if the cost outweighs the convenient of just having 1 lens instead of having two. Maybe I will sell the 10-30 to offset the cost of the 10-100 and keep the 30-100 as a back up.

Again, thanks for sharing.

I suspect that there's almost no market for used 10-30 lenses unfortunately.

I was afraid of that. As long I can get something out it, it would be fine. From what I've been seeing on the new 10-100 VR, I'm slowly convincing myself to replace the two kit lenses (10-30 and 30-110) with this for the mere convenience of just having one lens and also avoid the worry of something getting into the sensor every time you swap lens. Thanks for your feedback.

Very nice! Replacing skis.... ohhh... cheating! :-D Actually those grey/white skies make for less hard shadows, but you know that.

So is this your go to fun mini carry camera? I am considering the Nikon 1 system to complement my Nikon DSLR. I enjoyed your images and I am not a pixel peeper, I just like good images.

Waugh great pictures.

Unbelieving how good the images are.

Surely the Nikon V2 look great, but At the current asking prise I have to wait, pity.

But In time I get one.

The only camera I've been able to view images at 100% and not see pixelation/artifacts is my FX D700. Even my APS-C sensor camera images can't be viewed at 100% so its no surprise this is the case for the CX sensor camera. I would be very pleased to have taken these shots.

Great shots of this beautiful landscape! Nice job substituting the blue sky, was the sky also shot with the V2 or with your D800e?

I took the sky photo with the D800e of the sky from my front yard only because that was the camera closest to me when I saw that sky. I have a collection of skies I have saved for using with Photoshop. I'm sure the V2 would have done a great job of taking that shot also.

Hi bildeb,

How would you rate that lens? I've been thinking about buying one too.

I have the 10-100 f/4-5.6 and it has entirely replaced the 10-30 and 30-110 lenses. It's performance is as good as it gets for a 10x zoom. I find it the equal of the 10-30 and just slightly less sharp than the 30-110. However, the convenience aspects and the tiny difference in IQ would lead me to recommend the 10-100 f4-5.6 to any V2 user.

I have also just traded my 70-200 VR f/2.8 (old version) for the 70-200 VR f/4 mainly for size and weight reasons ... but have found the new lens the equal of the old one in IQ and significantly better in VR. I can hand hold the f/4 at EFL 540 mm on the V2 and capture sharp images every time! It's VR is nothing short of exceptional. . . and the IQ of images in the V2 is stagerring. For pixel peepers it may not hold up but for true photo enthusiasts it is beautiful. If you like the photos shown on this thread taken with the 10-100 then I can confirm that they will be even better on the 70-200 f/4.

Thanks. Will be picking one up soon.

I have replaced our V1 10-30/30-110 combination with the V2 and the 10-100 f/4-5.6 lens. We did street photography with them a week ago downtown LA (Both my wife and I each have a set along with our two D800 systems, but use the Nikon 1 cameras to travel light and/or be less conspicuous.) One V1 also accompanied us with the new wide angle 6.7 mm zoom. This gave us a back up body as well as quick access to ultra wide angle.

The new lenses together with the better layout of the V2 made for a greatly improved experience over the V1 and the two lens combination.

I agree with above posts about the image quality of the super zoom vs the two regular zooms. I am quite happy with our new combinations at least for printing no larger than about 12 by 18 with an ISO of 400 or less. We did shoot some shots at higher ISO's and with third party noise reduction in CS-6, it was acceptable - or at least better than not getting the shot.
