The 990 meets or exceeds my expectations as I enter the digital photography world. Though I am still more comfortable with a SLR, the options afforded by the 990 more than make up for that loss.

By rotating rechargable batteries, the power problem associated with the camera is minimized. However, a 32 mb flash card and card reader are a must. Don't waste your time with the 16 mb card that comes with the camera.

My want list includes greater zoom capacity and more intuitive control button location. The on/off switch is difficult to operate and should be fashioned after the traditional Nikon SLRs (like the 8008).

Lack of a wrist strap on a small camera makes no sense.

Removing the Flash Card with my pudgy fingers is more fun to watch than to execute. Couldn't we have it pop up a little more?

Problems:

No!! The camera and the updating of the firmware are both as advertised. A good product that only needs some small improvements.
