I'd like to address some of the criticisms raised by previous reviewers. "Requires unique battery." It takes standard AA's. "Doesn't work with Ni-Cds or alkalines." True, but this is also true of most digital cameras. There is only one way to go with digital cameras and that's NiMh rechargeables. "You have to buy the docking station separate." True, but you don't need the docking station. A USB cable is provided and charger/batteries can be had for $20. For $30 you can get home/auto charger/batteries at gotbatteries.com. "Needs better sleep mode." To restart from sleep mode you, turn the camera off and then on. Takes about half a second. I don't see any problem with this. "Should have 3X for this price class." It would be nice to have 3X, but at this price???? "Can't take close-ups." It focuses to 2.8 in. To see examples go to http://community.webshots.com/user/steeveb222, View Full Size, Save Picture and then open in graphics viewer for best picture. These pictures are snapshots (no tripod, lighting, etc.) and images haven't been manipulated. "No protective case available." There are a number of generic ones available (Longs Drugs) for $10-20.

Problems:

Downnloads to computer regularly stall, necessitating turning the camera off and then on again.
