After taking 4000 pictures, I found the 5700 is really a good camera. For a photo amateur, it can do everything. I use it in any light conditions and everywhere, compare to all other same level products, it gives the best performances. Especially in the response time, it is a critical point for a digital camera, 5700 is very good. and with the 8X zoom, the longest zoom among all products. If you are a beginner like me, and wanna to take it with you everywhere anytime, it can be the best choise. Don't choise Olympys, it take 11.5s to save each photo, don't choise sony, since it take long time to focus a thing.
ISO800, and 15S-1/4000s speed make it to be a true professional camera, you can have picture anywhere without flash, almost. A-priority/S-priority is easily controlled, you can have professional setting.
The image quality is very good, if you wanna to take photo for stable things, in the TIF format, the image can be the quality for advertisement printing in the magzine.
The explosual and the focus have multiple and flexible solutions. you can have profesional usage as you are using a true Nikon F90.
when I remember sth, I will tell you.
Two years ago, I have ever brought a Nikon990, at that time, the performance of 990 have reached todays performance of other brand, therefore I would say Nikon is a good choise.
Problems:
construction is not very good, to add a wide angel length is difficult or make thing stupid. and you can not change lengh, but be aware that, this is the style of Japanese manufacutry, they never give you all satisify, intentionally give you some short point to let you buy more expensive products.
You need at least one extra batery if you want it to support whole day photo taking. it cost 80$ normally, if the AA size cartrige cost same, I will definitely buy that, unforturnately, it is more expensive, Nikon wanna to earn more money from 5700.
You cannot add UV-filter, I guess it is expensive also.
