This is my fourth Digital Cam, following a Finepix 3800, Finepix 2650, and a Sony floppy-based Mavica. The feel of this camera is excellent. It seems to be well constructed and designed, and reminds me very much of a 35mm SLR. The features are well rounded for an adventurous novice or amateur, incorporating a degree of manual control for those new to such things, and a good set of auto and scene modes. Control layout, which is very subjective, is fair, although it takes some getting used to. Using some of the manual functions, such as focusing and changing aperture settings and shutter speeds, can be challenging if you have big hands. Even so, I make a living with tools, and this camera, like any other tool, has ins and outs that can be learned and adjusted to. Overall image quality is good, with a tendency to oversaturate red tones. I found focusing to be easy in general, as long as there isn't a complete lack of contrast. Shutter and focus lag can be a problem for fast action shooting, but there again, there are features on the camera and techniques that can be learned to overcome this to a large degree. In conclusion, I would say that this is a good intermediate camera that will give room to expand over a simple point-and-shoot model, and that it will give you printable and frameable results with a little practice. The prints won't be $1500-Digital SLR-quality prints, but then, this isn't a $1500 Digital SLR. A good camera with a lot of features for the price.
Problems:
Slightly oversaturated red tones, some manual function control difficulty. No real problems.
