I previously owned a C2500-L and an E10. I particularly like the E-10 and the few drawbacks that it has, have been addresed in the E1. It is fast, fantastically built (better than the E10) and the image quality is superb. Metering is excellent and it does a great job of preserving highlight details. As a consequence, it perhaps exhibits slightly more noise in the shadows than say a Canon 10D might, but that can easily be dealt with via Neatimage. Blown out highlights though cannot be recovered..... Overall, I am really happy with the noise performance, which up to ISO800 is outstanding (High ISO noise is a real weakness of the E10). Lenses are fantastic (I have the 14-54 & the 50-200). Focus on the 14-54 lens is both fast and very accurate. The 50-200 lens can hunt sometimes, but always seems to focus dead on. The supersonic wave filter seems to work well. At least I have had no dust problems at all. Finally, I am really pleased to say that Chromatic Aberation is MUCH reduced when compared with the E-10. I have not been able to perceive any noticeable CA in high contrast strongly backlit shots. Overall a really great piece of equipment and one I am very glad to own.
Problems:
C-AF does not work well in low light conditions. Not realy a problem, but it left me puzzled for a while. S-AF works just fine though.
