F717 - Software

Personally, I think it is horrible. After using the software that comes with Canon and Nikon cameras, I guess I was spoiled. I found it difficult to use and understand and the interface too bright and gaudy. I wound up uninstalling it all and am using Nikon View to download the images.
How is the software that follows the F717 model? Is it any good?
Easy to use?

Your opinions please...?

Thanks,

Marius

You really don't need it with XP, ot the like, and your current photo viewing and editing software. XP recognises the camera as a disk drive without installing any additional software allowing you to copy the images from your camera natively in the OS. From there ACDSee and Photoshop take over for me. I never even put the CD that came with the camera in my PC.

Film: OM1 & 2sp Digital: Sony DSC 717 & Olympus 2000z

Computer: workstation: XP1800+ w/PS 7, server: Thunderbird 1200, both run XP pro. Printer: Epson 820

The software to view the images was nothing special. I just changed the settings to just dl the images and nothing else. Use PS to edit. The dl of images off of the camera is super fast.

ditto - If you have a good program like Photoshop, it's not needed. I use OSX and it also sees the camera as a drive automatically. I never even took the software out of the package.

It si some of the worst implemented software I've ever seen on any product and I'm a longtime photographer and digital artist. I would not count on it for any real functionality.

That said, image processing software is really cheap these days. Check Serif.com for very inexpensive high quality graphic software as cheap as $10-$30 for pretty good stuff.
