1) Apart from the Function button which I find small and hard to find
and actuate in conjunction with the Command Dial, I'm happy with the
Features, Quality of Construction, Weight and Finish of the
CP-8800.
2) The manual focus is not its strong point and there is some difficulty
auto focusing in low light or long zoom situations.
3) This camera has some depth and requires that you read the manual
at least twice. Lots of firmware features and options.
4) Image quality is more than acceptable at ISO 50.
Problems:
1) Lack of accessories at time of release, ie. lens hood, filters and lens
attachments.
2) In time lapse Movie I would like to see a choice of shorter time
intervals ie. 15seconds and 7.5seconds.
3) Better filter and lens hood options. Currrently you are only able to
have one accessory on the lens at one time.
4) Enhanced manual focus control. Graphics are large and take over the
screen making it hard to see the image you are focusing on.
5) Enhansed iTTL control of SB-800 flash features. Would also solve the
Multiflash dilemma. See page 106 of the English manual.
6) Better on screen graphics (monitor, viewfinder or LCD Control Panel).
Currently some of the graphics ie the letters for "P,S,A & M Mode are
crude and malformed. The Zoom (should be a mm Number with a thin
progress bar) fills the top third of the screen. The manual focus
graphics take over the entire center of the screen making it difficult to
see that which you are trying to focus on. The lines for the Framing
Guides (in one of the display button modes) are too thick and give the
interface a klunky look. Presentation is half the battle: the camera is
more than well made, an upgrade of the onscreen graphics would give
the interface a more clarity, shape and quality.
Otherwise a great camera for the price.
