i had the e-500 for over a week now, i'm loving it. very light, well build and once you hold it, you don't want to stop shooting, i used to have the e-300, there's nothing wrong with it, i just exchange it to a newer model, they both shoot pictures really nice good. like what Phil says, it's HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. THANKS OLYMPUS!!

Problems:

NONE SO FAR!

Despite the greater weight than new designs, it is enough to use a resolution of 1.3-2 mpx to get a good effect on a large 39" screen.

Although 4/3 sensors are 4x smaller than FF, they benefit from their technical excellence.
It is expressed in the optical density - effective resultant resolution of the image, which is for old Olympus models - 314 dpi, and for new ones even 350.
They get it already at 5 mpx and therefore, if you do not take very large photos or posters, this is the most practical resolution for obtaining details.
Meanwhile, Canon 5D-all versions has only 72 dpi, Apple Mac standard 1984.
Nikon has a better score: 240, Sony es well (the new models also 350).

5 mpx and above is only relevant for large prints where there is a higher optical density (314 DPI vs 200) and for the needs of current 4K screens.

Useful ISO is 800, at 1600 noise problems begin.

However, on m4/3 matrices such as E-PL3 it is possible to take pictures on iSO3200!

Good colors, however, you can see the difference between the older kit 14-45 and the newer 14-42 which gives a better shade of red and sharpness comparable to Zeiss lenses.

It is a pity that to save on costs OLY first:
  1. he gave up CCD matrices.
  2. he gave up mirrors.
  3. Sample images 2-5mpx in 1:12 compression, average weight 700 kB
  4. Krakow - former capital of Poland
