After 12 years of canon film slr & watching the ever changing dslr improvements with anticipation i finally decided to purchase a 5d/17-40 f4l & 430ex(24 105 f4l on back order!).I have tried just about every photographic combination looking for faults, the last test being fire works night.@ iso setting H(3200) & average of 8 second exposures the results are as good as i ever got with my eos film cameras. The old saying "a camera is only as good as the lens "rings true with the 5d's 12.8m pixels.
Size&weight is excellent, pity about the lack of weather seals but i have never found a little rain to harm a camera.
2.5"screen good news(could to brighter)screen protector essential but will darken image.overall impression is that this camera should satisfy the needs of many peoples photoghraphic levels for quite a few years without the need to upgrade,so may work out a little cheaper in the long run than going down the 1.6(crop factor sensor)route, As i feel this will diminish as the cost of f/f sensors drop. Very happy with purchase, no regrets.
Problems:
no problems but do take note large c.f cards essential,2gb gives 120 shots in raw.
