I have owned various Casios, G series Canon, Fujis, I wanted to move up to a camera with vibration reduction and 10 megapixels in a small form factor for vacations and general carrying around. I needed a back-up camera for operating room shots when I didn't have my D200. The majority of my shots are taken for projection or snapshots, with a special few blown up. I love raw - but not essential - and I realized that I most used the wide angle end with few extreme telephotos. Size and portability were important. It basically came down to the Canon G7 and the Nikon P5000. The consistency of the Nikon interface (P5000 was more like my D200), the compactness and build pushed me to the P5000. When I received the camera I was surprised by how small and light it was. The results have blown me away. The character of the pictures is very much like the D200 with respect to color balance and exposure. I'd be glad to post my specimen shot of a recent pancreaticoduodenctomy if anyone wishes! (YUK)

Problems:

None!
The finder zooms perfectly with the camera. Finder framing does not exactly correlate with the picture, but I knew about that...hey it's basically a very fancy point and shoot!
