I bought this camera in May '07 to take on a european vacation. It was easy to use and took excellent pictures in all sorts of environments and lighting conditions. In fact we brought home more than 1100 images on 4 discs. Most were of excellent quality although in retrospect...why so many?!
The camera was never dropped and returned home without a scratch.
Problems:
Without any warning, it simply stopped working at all about a month ago. Won't power up and yet battery checks fine. I contacted Panasonic to request warranty service as the warranty is good until 5/22/08 except for the CP chip (90 days). It was nearly impossible to get any sort of response by phone or email from Panasonic. Eventually was advised to send it to warranty center in IL for evaluation...minimum charge $68. If anything covered by warranty could be replaced it would be at no charge except for the fee to find out. Minimum charge for non-warranty item was $138. So, I could pay out more than $200 to repair a camera that cost under $300. No more Panasonics for me.
