I bought this against the judgment of the DP review, and I must say I feel as if they must have been reviewing a differnt model, or else they are holding the SX1 to a much more critical standard than they hold other cameras. As Point and Shoot cameras go, this one is top notch. The features and image quality are first rate, and the noise is beter than average for this genre. For some reason DPR slams this camera while generally rating the Panny FZ28 much more highly. I cannot figure this out, as I used to own the FZ28 and the pictures quality was nowhere near what the SX1 PQ is.
So, take the DPR review with a grain of salt, as it runs counter to my experience and the experience of others on these boards.

Problems:

The video quality, while fair for a still camera, cannot hold a candle to a dedicated camcorder. Although the pixel count qualifies as "full HD", the quality is very grainy indoors (almost unusable) and of only middling quality outdoors.
