My observations are from someone who did not own Fuji X10, or any Fuji X camera. In fact, I have not owned a Fuji camera in several years. So I am a newbie when it comes to Fujis. I can only compare it to cameras that I own and have owned and remember how they were when I had owned them.
1) AF - need more testing. I had couple of incidents when I had to press the shutter button twice to acquire focus. And yes, my Olympus OM-D is faster in AF. But overall, the best experience with AF for compact cameras with small sensor, other than Panasonic LX series.
2) Battery life. I bought two extra batteries by Wasabi Power in advance of my X20. I always buy Wasabi Power batteries for all my cameras, since I've never had any problems with these. In this case, my fully charged Wasabi Power battery was gone completely after 120 shots + initial setup. I now charged the OEM Fuji battery and placed it in my camera and will see if I see dramatic improvements, since the first battery life was abysmal. Now I used display for composing and focusing most of my photos.
3) Size: it is definitely smaller and lighter than my Olympus OM-D:
The Malaysia which sold me the camera did provide a US-working plug in a package:
However, I just took a plug out of my Nikon D7000 and plugged it into the Fuji charger and it fits like a charm:
I also bought the EF-20 flash that can be bounced off the ceiling in anticipation of X20. This is how X20 looks with the flash on top of it:
As far as Picture Quality I am still trying to figure it out. I took some pictures that came out great and others that came out not that great, and I am trying to figure out how to properly shoot this camera for best results. The detail in shadows is remarkable though just shooting with general settings outside, the detail just comes out that I don't even remember seing there. As far as low light, I am not sure about Auto WB accuracy in either RAW or JPEG so far. It seems inaccurate under incandescent light and so much that I might have to resort to shooting RAW just to be able to set a somewhat proper WB in pp.
Phase continuous AF seems to be working good, it is the best compact I've ever tried to do that, although I have not tried yet objects that ran toward me (like dogs etc)....
macro/supermacro seems ok I guess
Overall, in the couple hours I've been able to play with it, X20 has not disappoint me in any major way. To be continued in the next couple days after I get more chances to play with X20.
