I walked the dog tonight (obviously). My new nephew, just a few days old, is hanging on by a thread. Complicated story.

Sorry to here that Andrew,i dropped mine a couple of weeks ago.Horrible feeling in the stomach just before the ensuing crunch! Mine survived on the occasion, phew!

Do they have Grd4 on sale at Henry's Canada?

Still a short couple of months left until the expected announcement of the GRDV. Not good timing. I don't know what GRDs you have except for the IV. Maybe it is worth to have it repaired instead of going for a used GRD IV or III. I don't know what the new prices of these two GRDs currently are. Oth if you not has had a GRDI yet so here you have a good chance to pick one of these on Ebay to use in the meantime until the GRV become available. Them show up frequent in the regions ebay.co.uk and ebay.de and is not expensive.

I would avoid the GRDII if i was about to buy one of these two. Had it briefly for some years back and didn't like the slow AF and the Adj-wheel on the GRDI is a more pleasant to use as well.

Yesterday my Ricoh Caplio 500SE fell off from the packet holder on my bike. I had walked with the bike for a while and held the camera in my hand when I stopped for a short break and placed the camera on the packet holder. Aafter like 3 min I continued to walk but when I heard the camera fell down onto the ground which was somewhat icy. Luckily it survived that.

That had not happened if I had used the GRDI as it is so small so I would not place it on the packet holder. But the 500SE sits there well as long as the bike is not moved.

The GRD IV sells for 35,000yen new in the home islands for what it is worth

Try sending it in, or at least contacting ricoh. I recall a very similar story, camera dropped, lens barrel smashed and then promptly repaired by ricoh.

I've dropped two others without incident. This one must have landed at the wrong angle.

I'll get a new GRD4. It's a camera I love and I suspect the GRD5, if it has an APS sensor, will render differently. Maybe I can find one on sale.

I'll look into it. The cost might be prohibitive, though.

Sorry to hear about your nephew. I hope he gets better.
My GRDiii had a similar problem but was fixed by Ricoh. Maybe try getting it checked first before buying a replacement?

Andrew, so sorry about your nephew. As others have said a camera is replaceable. I know I am keeping my lll if my daughter does not want it and the lV. Take care and I pray that things work out.

Thanks Joel. My son has my GRD3 too. Nice and simple for him.

Right now it seems our nephew has a serious infection/sepsis, but it's unclear. It may also be a very rare infant diabetes condition. He has the attention of every expert at UCSF right now.

Thanks. He seems to be hanging in there. Long term, not quite sure.
