Canon EOS 70d

Good luck with that. History not understood leads to repetition of errors. Imagination used properly leads to new innovative products from manufacturers.

Then by all means speculate away. I see no point in it. There are plenty of threads about what people want in cameras, and for the most part they're unrealistic - they want a camera that fits in a pants pocket, zooms to 600mm equivalent at f/4, and has no noise at ISO beyond 100,000.

If you want to start another thread with what you'd like to realistically see in a new DSLR go for it, I've no doubt there will be no shortage of responses. But this isn't what you asked - you wanted to compare the specs and IQ of cameras that don't exist - which is an exercise in futility.

If those specs come true, wow, it's gonna sell better than hotcakes !

Just went to a photoshop to take a look at the EOS 60d. I was advised by the shopkeeper to wait a little while as he had read this morning that the EOS 70d will be launched within 45-60 days.
I find this hard to believe. Stores want to sell products, who in their right mind would send away a prospective buyer telling them something new is coming out in the next few months? Sale lost. Sell what you have now, sell what the buyer wants to the buyer and tell the buyer that you "have one of these too and it's great" - I've heard that line so many times it's not funny!

yes, it is true and yes, I was more than surprised as well. Sell lost as I am about to buy a 2nd hand camera now...

Canon is bit late in 70D announcement - I hope it will feature better specification compared to D7100.

I've been told...the sensor needs tweaking...and so it'l take a few mo. to get that ready for release. The good news....no more 9 pt. sensor in the 70D....more !!

And we're still waiting...

I wonder what kit lens the 70D will ship with, sames ones as 700D perhaps or something better or entirely new?

If nothing comes soon...ppl will move elsewhere. I'm thinking already...

i will be waiting ... hope it comes soon though as I want the swivel screen, am considering 6d that has none :(

Canon, bring it on .. i will order soon :D

xxx

So wait till next month and see. Hopefully some new leaks will show up soon as well.

I tend to agree. Canon hasn't produced a new APSC sensor for a number of years and the same sensor is now in use in all its APSC DSLRs. I believe that if Canon produces a new improved APSC camera to replace the 60D and 7D but without an improved sensor, especially in pixel count, then people will be thinking about moving to a different brand.

Absolutely true. Their next DSLR *must* show they can at least compete, if not lead, the market on IQ. Otherwise, why buy Canon anymore? The 70D needs to be a genuinely exciting camera, but Canon loves their boring, incremental updates.

Regarding 70D; I just noticed 60D's are selling for less than $600 now (http://www.canonwatch.com/deal-canon-eos-60d-body-only-589/). $589 shipped is crazy. Great deal for a very good camera, albeit one based on old tech now. Dealers are obviously clearing stock, hopefully because they know when the 70D is coming. At least, I hope so.
