Is there both a wire and wireless remote shutter release available for the Canon T2i?

Can you furnish the particulars? Thanks.

Page 217 of the manual shows the two remote devices that I assume they recommend for the T2i. There are numerous 3rd party remotes as well. I use the corded remote shown on that page but also have an older tiny remote control (which I bought years ago for another Rebel) that works with the camera.

Hi Bob. I bought a wired remote for a T3i here in UK made by Hahnel. I think it cost under £20. I recently bought a 7D which has a different fitting for the remote release, & I thought I would have to buy a new one for the 7D. When I checked the box, it had connections for several different cameras, including the 7D. It works fine, & got a gold star for accessory of the year in a UK camera mag. It also has a slide control on the switch for long exposures or bulb mode.

The new Smart Trigger by Satechi (about $48 available from Amazon) controls most Canon DSLR's. The Smart Trigger sits in the camera's hotshoe, and a cable runs from it to the camera. The Smart Trigger is controlled by an Iphone i5 app via bluetooth. Check to see if the T2i is one of the camera's that accomodates the Smart Trigger.

I have a cheepo wireless remote from ebay. Very satisfied with it, with the exception of distance. They clain up to 150' but for 90% of applications, 40 to 50 feet is about it's limit. Other than that, works good. Sits in the hot shoe with a cable to the camera.

Thanks to all contributors. This is all the info that I need.

Y'all did good!!

I understand that the RC-1 remote works with the T2i. But must you be in front of the camera to set off the shutter? If so, this remote would likely not be very usable with a 8mm fisheye lens, would it? The lens covers nearly 180 degrees. So there's no way one could get in front of the camera without being seen. Correct? With a lessor wide angle lens, you could probably set it off by remaining just out of the width of the lens?

I have the RC-1. I think it's small enough that you can click it while standing behind the camera and reaching in front of the camera but behind the lens, outside of the lens range. Of course that depends on the shape and size of the lens and I'm not familiar with that lens.

Just use the 2 or 10 second delay.
