FZ200 flash exposures?

After reading the DPR and other reviews of the FZ200, it seems as if there's no option for dialing down the flash output, just some fixed settings.

Is this so?

If so, does anyone have experience shooting indoors with the built-in flash?

My Canon G10 does allow me to adjust the flash output and I've found it very helpful in situations where the full output of the flash produced overexposed images.

Thanks for any input!!

The FZ200 flash is fairly strong but can be dialed down if needed. Its control can also be added to one of the function buttons, if desired. I often dial down for daytime fill flash.

Could you explain exactly how one dials down the flash?

Many thanks
See p. 5 of the Shooting menu, 2nd item from the top, Flash Adjust.

Yeah - it's not real convenient using the menu picks, which is why I've assigned it to my Fn1 button. Some may feel it's a waste having to dedicate a function button for it - it would have been nice to be able to assign it for when the flash was enabled and to something else when it wasn't - but at least we can do it if we want to!

I've never used the built-in flash, and I wouldn't. I'd have thought the OP would have bothered to take a look at the menu options or -- excuse the expression -- the user manual.

I don't have a user manual because I don't have the Pana.

It's considering a replacement for my G10 and am in the process of researching various cameras.

None of the reviews I read went into detail concerning flash output options.

Hence, my question.

Thanks to those forum posters who were helpful in their feedback.
It's tough to describe beyond the manual's reference

You can move a pointer over the range between -2 EV and +2 EV and the flash output changes (up to its maximum output)

Here's a link to the panasonic FZ200 advanced manual

You can download it even if you don't own the camera.

Well, I guess that would slow you down a bit. I knew I shouldn't have written that, but sometimes I lack impulse control. :-)

And that said, if you're thinking of getting an FZ200, you might be interested in browsing the PDF manual (the only kind of manual there is) for other issues of interest. It's available on the web at:

And I do hope that's helpful.
