Amazon D600 replacement horror story

Those bastards we're crediting my card money that they did not owe me. So I contacted them via chat and explained the situation, and they thanked me for being honest and said they would cancel the shipping refund....but I bet if they could have gotten away with it, they would have forced that $22.70 on me. They have no souls. Oh the horror!
+1 on your integrity!

So I received my new (what I thought) replacement D600 today and when I open the box something didnt look right.

1. The kit lens was new in two seperate boxes, ie, lens hood/pouch, lens - serial#'s match.

2. Who the hell packages a D600 with serial 306XX in a used box with serial 304XXX - No battery and no strap. Best of all the camera wasnt even new, it already had 712 actuations.

I was in disbelief that someone could have done this - WOW!!!!

Amazon CS assured me they'd look into how this could have happened and insured me I would be receiveing new D600 tommorrow with a $50 Amazon GC.
First time this has happened to me with Amazon and I was looking forward to my non-dusty D600 :( (probably not I know)
Horror story? This is the IDEAL! This is how it should be handled when a mistake like this is made. The even gave you $50 which they didn't even have to do. Your "horror story" is actually a ringing endorsement for Amazon and their excellent Customer service.

you must have a pretty easy life if this qualifies as a "horror story"...

Whew! They almost unloaded some bad karma on you. Well done dodging that bullet.

I guess I should have renamed this thread because, Amazon got it right the second time. I know, we all make mistkes and I jumped the gun. My D600 arrived today, brand new with 304XX serial properly documented :)

I opened the thread to see how could Amazon end up painting a horror story, on the contrary this is really an example of excellent cust service they offer. I have had the same experience if anything has ever gone wrong, they are excellent in CS.

Please post if you have dust/oil issues, since this is holding back a bunch of people, like me, from getting the D600. Is 304XX a recent batch?

I have a few days old D600, it was 305XX. After a few shots I looked and it had a few specks at f22. I used a rocket blower and they are gone. I need to shot more to say whether it has a problem or not. Work and weather keep getting in the way!

First world problems... sigh...

How many times will I repeat this, this in not only an advice to get the best deal locally as well as great customer service but will also save actual physical stores in the close future :

you can ALWAYS price match your camera locally, and even if it will cost you 50$ more, this is the price to pay for you to be an happy customer, and for them to keep existing.

Lesson learned, buy local.

Apparently you didn't read the thread FTH. Amazon demonstrated excellent customer service in this case. :)
