Hey All,
I am using my K5 to shoot videos for YouTube...
Over time I have moved to off camera audio in various forms and have now settled on a digital recorder with lapel mic and sync audio in post. Although this works well, I have also purchased an external shotgun microphone (HT-81) in an attempt to get better reference audio directly on the AVI.
Though this microphone (HT-81) comes with an XLR connection I suspect that it is not truly balanced?
The microphone works well on my digital recorder (using the 3.5mm input) but not to the camera directly. I have tried a cheap mic I usually use on my computer and it does functions correctly with the K5.
The external mic (HT-81) has its own power (AA) and I have proven this by turning the digital recorder's power option off and have observed that the microphone continues to work.
I have two separate leads for the external mic, the one it came with - which is mono and one I purchased which is stereo. Both are XLR to 3.5mm.
I'm guessing it might be an impedance mismatch???
I'm just was wondering if anyone else has been able to get this sort of thing working?
Thanks for your time
