Hi everybody,

Here's a shot a took off my humble basement studio over the weekend. Notice the stray hairs on the top of the girl's head? Is there any effective way to remove them in PS considering the background is a mixture of white and brown colors.

Alexander

make a rough selection (lasso) and clone the background over them. Make sure the selection does not go into the hair you want to keep. By preselecting, it is less likely you will make mistakes with the clone tool and clone over some area you want to keep.

Yes! Do a standard extraction.... (rimshot)

(Sorry alexander, this was an 'inside joke' for the rest of the group. Philo's suggestion will get you there.)

Alexander, I'm curious about your humble basement studio since I have one as well. What are you using for a backdrop? And do you have a pic of the studio itself? I could sure use some ideas.

Thanks,
Ingrid

You asked for it, so here is my messy studio picture. As you can see, I have 2 alien bees 400 alonside an Octodome and silver / white umbrella.

Background is a muslim background bought at the local fabric store which I dyed myself using Dylon Dyes. Hope this helps!

I didn't know you could buy a muslim background at a fabric store, I had no idea what to do about backgrounds. Been using Renee's backdrop CD I ordered from her, it works very well but would be nice to have my own. Yes this definitely helped, you have no idea how much!

As for my studio, I could take a picture but you might fall off your chair laughing! All I have for lighting is some bathroom vanity lights on the ceiling, being a definite amateur they work for me and I'm not in this to make money, I do shoots but just for the pleasure of it so I haven't put much money into it.

For a backdrop I have a piece of lineoleum covering the back and the floor that I just paint different colors. I was using backdrop paper and painting it but it just created a lot of wrinkles so tried the lineoleum and it works but of course I just get plain colors. On the sides I have a white curtain to prevent shadows. I know how primitive this must all sound to you but it works for what I use it for. I've obviously never claimed to be a professional! lol But people are happy with the photos and the price is right for them.

I mostly do shoots of kids and I have a lot of props, toys, stools, red wagon, I even got a bale of hay and a saddle, made for some cute pics.

All this is probably more than you wanted to hear! lol If you really want a picture I can take one but I will be terribly embarrassed but on the other hand I have thick skin so who cares, right? lol Actually the other forum members might vote to throw me out of the forum if they see it! lol
