Switching from 60D+1755 to EPL5+17.18, the first impression is small size and high shutter speed. It's much easier for girls and family members to take shots without any directions. I can take it to anywhere and take street photography without notice. The cons is that the jpeg format is not sharp than 60D's, but it can be fixed if you use raw format. Compared with 55mm view, 35mm lens is much difficult to produce a nice boken

Have you tried the sharpness adjustment in camera? The setting mostly applies to jpeg. I usually need to set sharpness to low when I shoot jpeg, especially when shooting low light jpeg in order to reduce noise. Also a better lense would help.

Yes. I have set the natural C-1 S-1, but I will try to reduce the noise in LR instead of setting the noise reduction in camera. If you shot portrait, try to reduce curve -3,-3,it will also make it less noise and more smooth for the face.

My E-PL5 will be arriving Monday and I am a bit surprised at these photos. I've been using a GF1, but am now upgrading. Since you made a comment of the 17mm F1.8 lens, can you elaborate on its quality for someone who is not familiar with it. I'm bringing alone my 20mm and hope to get good photos from it on the PL5. I was some what surprised to see that the photos, particularly the one of the Church were shot wide open or just about. Is there a sweet spot on the 17mm?

Also as far as noise goes, I guess I don't understand that comment. All the reviews that I have seen of the E-PL5 state its noise levels are very good and depending on who you read that you can even get usable shots at ISO 3200 in a pinch.

Thanks for any info. Just trying to get a head start with my new camera.

Church shot is my favourite. I have ordered this lens and am always interested in other's perceptions of it. RM

Sorry for the confusion on high ISO performance. After one month usage, I found that even ISO 4000 is usable. The new 17 can make really sharp image at wide open aperture, and you can check my latest portrait in low light room.

Great selling point: "Even girls can use it."
