I am a beginner dslr user and i am confused between d3200 and d5100 and a37 as they all lie in my budget,i have read some forums about how to choose a camera but i am still confused.I donot low light photography too much and most of what i capture are landscape photos and sometimes moving objects[I mean with moving objects splashing of seawater or somebody running but i do not mean very fast objects like cars]

You are strictly speaking an user since you want to buy your first dSLR. From your list Sony A37 is not a dSLR although it look like one of them.

You have two choices: Nikon system and Sony system.

Any will give you good results. Go to a store that displays the cameras you shortlisted and try to play a little with them. Sony has an EVF while Nikon have OVF. See how intuitive is to you to operate the camera.

Nikon system has much more lenses and accessories than Sony system but as a beginner it may not be interesting. With Sony your choices of affordable and good lenses is quite limited (only 18-55 mm). You may find 18-55 mm range quite restrictive.

because the OP is looking at Nikon bodies without an in-body motor there probably aren't more Nikon lenses available that will work & very possibly the reverse. & all the Sonys will be stabilised.

& to say that the only affordable & good Sony lens is the 18-55 is just plain wrong.

However, I do second going to a shop & handling. & whilst there have a look at Canon & Pentax too, they are all good.

Nikon almost change all its line to AF-S. With third party lenses you have in excess of 100 lenses. But it is not the number that counts since the OP will not buy all the lenses available.

Correct, availability of what you want/need is what matters as who cares about the availability of something that they would never use/want? The Sony system is nowhere near as thin as some people seem to think though.

Plus there are 3rd party manufacturers of lenses, flashes, flash triggers etc. for Sony too.

Go for the d3200 is its the newest of the 3 you are looking at, it has the most mp. If you can go to some camera store that have all three I would do that, and take a few pictures with the cameras. I felt like the new d3200 was very east to use, over the d5100. I have not used the Sony A37 though. I do not know off hand what the D5100 has in terms of technical features over the D3200, but if your primary concern is still photography I would go for the D3200. I know a lot of people agree that Sony systems have better video capabilities, but I do not care about video.

Here are some links though that compare the Nikon's

From reading the links, the D3200 seems like a better first camera for still photos. The extra iso range on the D5100 is not something I would need.
