I’m trying to remove the darkness and red from the forehead of this infant. I use Lightroom 3 and Photosoft CS5.

I have tried several things with no luck. I can remove small blemishes etc, but I don’t know how to fix an entire area.

Thanks for the help.

take the entire area of the cheek in shadow, copy, paste, move the patch and blend in the edges.

I have cs5 also. I just made a dup layer, used color sampler and sampled skin tone next to reddened area and choose a soft brush and lightened the area at about 10 %. I am sure you will get better edits with better definitions. We have an abundance of talent on DPR!!!

Wow, that looks amazing. But I can’t seem to copy your results.

Can you walk me through it a little more? I don’t have a lot of experience with photoshop.

For example what do you mean by “lighten the area”?

Thanks for your time.

1st I always make a duplicate copy. then make a dup. layer

2. use the color picker and find an area that is closest to the dark area

3 I then choose a soft brush at about 10% Look up above where it says normal then choose lighten, color, hue or what ever you need. see pix below

hope this helps.......let me know if it didn't.

Here is another try...

I used several different tools to clean the fore

head and get the skin type and color I wanted:

Paint brush and healing patch tools, Grain and noise filters, cut out good color skin and paste over red splotched areas and then blend using smudge and patch tool..

Use Color and Lighten Blend Modes on the area you're trying to correct. Gaussian blur also on entire face. Not easy. Not for a beginner I think.

colour select red area, reduced the red by Hue&Saturation tool. Low opacity cloning off the cheek over forehead. Low opacity healing brush on same areas to remove rough edges of cloning.

Corel's tint tool set to "if lighter" and "if darker".

Frequency Separation Technique. Painting on the low freq-layer with a soft brush set to color at 15% using a sampled area of the cheek.
