I am using panorama software (The Panorama Factory 2.4) and it asks during the process of stitiching: "enter the 35mm equivalent focal length into the focal length text entry field" for your camera.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Your C-5050 has a focal length between 7.1mm (when in full wide) and 21.3mm (when in full tele), and thus the so-called 21.3/7.1=3X zoom. So if you take a shot with the zoom around the middle, the focal length would be around 14.mm. In any event, please do yourself a favour and display the full content of the EXIF data of a particular shot in question. The EXIF data includes the focal length of the particular shot which is the one you want to enter into your Panorama Factory. Simple enough?

And you shouldn't have asked "What is the focal length of the C-5050Z", though you could ask "What is the RANGE of the focal length of the C-5050Z". In fact, in this particular instance, you should ask "What is the focal length of a particular SHOT (which I am post-processing with Panorama Factory)"

It appears that the factor for this camera is 4.93 if it zooms from 7.1mm to 21.3mm and it's equivalent range is 35 to 105.

Just multiply the exif data by 4.93 for the 35mm equiv.

Thanks for the info.

Sorry to have had to ask such an elementary question, but I couldn't find the answer myself.

James:

Thanks for the detailed explanation.

I was under the mistaken impression that I could "magically" enter one 35mm equivalent and Panorama Factory would stitch everything up.

Severe ingnorance on my part.

Thanks for the lesson.
