I use these on all my Fuji Cameras and they really help to steady the camera.

To expensive in my opinion.

Yeah, seems like daylight robbery... personally I wouldnt spend much more than $30 for a little piece of aluminum(or whatever it is) like that.

I thought during my trial of the XE that it needed something, I found my finger hitting the little wheel which I did not like and this would certainly take care of that. I will end up with one of these if I get an APS-C fuji.... I think it looks good too

i'd love to pick up both this and the fuji grip, but both are insanely overpriced IMO and i don't think i can justify the price. if it were ~$50 then i'd consider it...

Very hard to see $130 of value there. Same deal with the massively overpriced X100 hood.

The X-Pro model from Lensmate ($64.95) works perfectly well on the X-E1.

Lensmate X-Pro1 thumb grip

It's a *little* bit close to the control wheel, but still perfectly usable.

I think a thumbrest can be really useful. But I also think a thumbrest--otherwise known as a one ounce piece of machined aluminum--is just plain stupid when priced at $130. Reality check: that's about the same price as a Fuji S4200 digicam with a 24X optical zoom lens. It's also more than than a WiFi Kindle Paperwhite. Even Lensmate is now jumping on the stupid price bandwagon, bumping up their X-E1 thumbrest to $74.95 which, sadly, is looking like a "bargain" compared to the pricing for the Thumbs Up.

I read somewhere that the price is justified because they spent a large amount of money on R&D...

130 bucks and it partially blocks the most useful knob on the camera.. the EV +- control..

Yeah, right.. My thumb is perfectible happy to go commando, especially for that price.

I like to support the idea of "made in (insert your country other then China here), but this is just a perfect example of why I often resort to buying off shore.. The irony is, this guy will probably still sell a bunch of these at this price.. Just silly.

Not sure if you meant this as funny sarcasm or were trying to make a legit point. If the latter, consider that Richard Franiec makes custom-machined aluminum grips (google him), each one uniquely designed for a specific camera model. The design, fit and finish are at near work-of-art levels, and he sells them for less than $35.

The price would be perfectly reasonable - if it came with the camera already attached to it. Or a sports car. Or a pony.

Of course I wasn't serious. I checked out those grips, look very nice indeed, at a very reasonable cost. Why doesn't he make a Fuji grip?

BTW The Thumbs Up is machined from brass. That may not justify the high price, but at least something on the X-100 will show some classic "brassing". ;) I would have a hard time paying 120+ for the Thumbs Up grip, but my used X-100 came with one installed!!! I love it, & I don't think that Lensmate makes a long version for the X-100. Too bad, 'cause it puts the thumb at exactly the right place to keep away from buttons while allowing access to the controls & protecting the Exp Comp dial a bit.

Cheers,

kev

Priced too high, blocks hot shoe, and also an issue of it putting extra pressure on the hot shoe.
