wanted to ask how would you rate the image quality compared to
Olympus OM-D E-M5, also the image and video quality compared to sony a99 and nikon d800e?

also i was thinking to get those lenses:

by this order, what do you think about their quality? do you recommend them for the gh3?

stabelized fast af regular zoom

Panasonic Lumix G X Vario 12-35mm f/2.8 Asph. Lens

1145$

sharp portraits

Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 75mm f/1.8 Lens

900$

wide angle view

Panasonic Lumix G Vario 7-14mm f/4.0 ASPH. Lens

890$

sharp macro

Panasonic Leica DG Macro-Elmarit 45mm f/2.8 ASPH. MEGA O.I.S. Lens

680$

also , maybe this too , but probably not

sallow DoF with nice bokeh like FF

Voigtlander Nokton 25mm f/0.95 Micro Four Thirds Lens

1200$

or maybe the leica 25 instead later

which system is better for pictures and video?,

gh3 with the lenses above , or sony a99 with ziess sal1635z and sal135f18z

which gives more value per money?

what do you recommend?

also which shop is more recommended?

panasonic, bh photo video , amazon , adorama

also , wonder when there will be a full review for it,

and firmware updates

thanks

My opinion: All those lenses are very, very good, so good choices there.

The GH3 has better video than the Sony a99, OM-D and Nikon D800E.

In terms of stills, I think the GH3 is as good as the OM-D (I have an E-PL5 and a GH3, and the E-PL5 has the same sensor as the OM-D. I find the GH3 a match for the E-PL5 in terms of DR and high ISO). It lags behind the a99 and Nikon D800 for stills, as do all micro four thirds cameras, in terms of dynamic range, high ISO performance, quality of body, controls/ergonomics (up for debate) and, with the Nikon, choice of lenses, accessories and pro level support structure.

If choosing between OM-D and GH3 think about how important video is and how the different ergonomics appeal to you. And of course, how important in-body image stabilisation (offered only in the Olympus micro four thirds cameras) is.

It really depends on what you want to shoot though.

awesome reply!
You're welcome.

I would also add that if you want to shoot sports or action, while it certainly can be done using micro four thirds cameras, there is a wider selection of telephoto lenses in the Sony or Nikon systems and most (though not all) users feel that the tracking performance of phase detect autofocus cameras like the a99 and Nikon D800 is superior to the contrast detect autofocus in the micro four thirds cameras. For what it's worth, I have a lower-grade Sony DSLR which is lower down in the product line than the SLT-a99 - an SLT-a57 - and I can confirm that its ability to track moving targets and keep them in focus is superior to the ability of my micro four thirds cameras.

thanks

from what i understood,

the gh3 has focus points the cover all the sensor

and is also very very fast , i think less than 0.1 sec

and from what i saw this camera is very responsive ,

and it can take more pictures in burst 18 vs 13

though the canon 1dc and nikon d4 would probably be the best for it

they maybe should have done something like nx300 in gh3

with many contrast af points and phase detection points hybrid focus

phase detection will probably make the tracking better,

and fast af in dark spots

i had samsung nx200 and sold it to upgrade,

to either a99 or gh3,

so probably i'll take the gh3

and wait couple of years tilll there is a really really good FF camera that is a great all arounder too

maybe something like APERTUS AXIOM specs

http://apertus.org/en/axiom

or even better like 8k 240fps 14 bit 4:4:4 All-I

and 600Mpx

lol

I think you will be very happy with the GH3, ergonomics are great and easy of use, many Fn buttons, very good image quality even at high ISO like the OMD. And nany good features like HDR.

The thing I like is the sharp image of the G3 in the video mode. But wenn you compare it in realistic colours and depth it looses against the Sony A99 also in video. At my Samsung PS64D8000 you can easily see this difference. In stills it is a different leage and is the Sony a big step better.

Great, intricate question.

I would venture to say that the Panny Lumix DMC-GH3 video quality will be almost on par if not better than the Sony Alpha 99's. Of course, one costs 2x as much as the other one, and uses totally different -- heavy and expensive -- lenses.

Forget the Olympus OM-D for video. Nikon D800E might not be too bad, but without the anti-aliasing filter built into it, I would definitely not shoot any video with that particular model in the first place.

Regarding the lenses on the Lumix GH3.... personally speaking, I am not interested in autofocus, image stabilization, vibration reduction, any of that stuff. But I am definitely interested in smooth, de-clicked manual aperture adjustment right on the lens, and a large focus ring with plenty of witness marks and built-in follow focus gear threads. So, for video use primarily, I would go with the Rokinon cinema lenses (using a simple lens mount adapter on the GH3), and perhaps also with a Nikon 18-300mm lens for the rest of the focal lengths, which of course would become an app. 27-450mm lens once mounted on the Panny Lumix GH3.
