looks like hs50 has zoom creep really bad!

I am about 99.5 percent certain that the 24-1000mm zoom lens will CREEP on the HS50 EXR, question is by how much and how bad?

Incidentally, there is absolutely nor reason for any zoom lens to creep whatsoever, internal zoom mechanism zoom optics have been out and in wide use for some 65 years already.

It is only for saving a few meager buckaroos that the photo lens mfrs are resorting to this laughable telescoping trombone type of a lens design. It actually looks rather grotesque when you see someone pumping the poor lens barrel in and out, in and out constantly, ayyayay!!!

Meanwhile.... if you use just about any INTERCHANGEABLE LENS CAMERA out there, you shall have plenty of choices of proper, professional internal zoom mechanism lenses that will not pump out, creep out, fall out whenever you tilt the poor camera. Nor will it sag or droop when in telephoto setting, like did the first batch of the X-S1s.

A lot of folks still seem to have a whole lot of confidence in Fujifilm, build quality -- what I can't figure out is why? I mean, it took them 18 months to make the X-S2 a quality that it should have been the day if was first released. Frankly, I would hate to be anybody's Beta tester. Why don't they do that work in-house BEFORE they start selling to us the wretched things, huh?

Finally, regarding the video, it is obviously doing more damage than good. Frankly, it looks like that it is the pair of Fujiguys themselves who are designing, promoting, and selling these cameras right out of their studio/garage. "Made in Japan" -- my foot.

Personally I think it's a bit premature to start tearing apart the 50! No one as far as I'm aware has done a hands on review on it.

So at this point there is very little evidence about it's performance to even speculate on. I really don't feel that the Fuji guys had a working camera to demo and that is not a good way of doing business.

Lets wait and see some reviews before we start casting praise or criticism on it. Lemon or peach time will tell.

It's funny that you are wasting time hitting a non-functional product. I bet once the product is out and results started to surface, you will drool out and rush to buy it right away.

Just watched fuji guys vid and billy lets go of the front of the zoom and it really does fling out. If you watch this video it happens between 7min 40 secs and 7min 49 secs.

Now, there can be a whole bunch of excuses, unfortunately that problem now is that this is a FUJIFILM PRODUCT. We've been there, seen that aplenty before.
Actually, until one ships into the wild, everyone is just speculating based upon a demo body that is never fired on film. If they could have fired it, do you not think that they would have?
This video clip is totally worthless, we learned nothing new other than what is already up on the Fuji web site.
I have found that the majority of the Fuji Guys videos are puff pieces. But for those who prefer to be told rather than try to parse the specs, the videos have great value.
At last someone should have had the brain to use black duct tape to tape the darn front edge of the lens down to the barrel, because now everyone thinks that it will be yet another garbage-lens.
The creep is extremely subtle and not relevant at all to the proceedings ... most of us got over the droop issue months ago. I am curious, though, why you think it was a garbage lens.
Whatever the Fujifilm guys are peddling at the moment -- I sure as heck do not want to buy.
Please do not. The sooner you move on to hating another brand, the better.
If these are the two best salesmen Fujifilm USA can find to demo their latest freak-lens cameras, they are truly in trouble.
The Fuji Guys are homed at Fujifilm.ca ... I'll leave you to process the implications of that suffix ... (tip: research is your friend)
At least Nikon has Ashton Kutcher. Of course, he probably costs more than the Fujiguys.
You and Ashton do share a certain level of technical credibility.

Is it simple prescience? Or all out fully blown omniscience?

Just curious ...

Well,

Somebody before shooting this video, should have made sure not giving them (Fuji guys) a fake cam may be..Anyway, Not sure if just a black tape would a have prevent the lens from ...falling out, or would have made things even more grotesque I would say:-) for our poor Fuji guys friends..But coming from automotive world, one thing I was thinking, even when they show a pre production/test car on the track, you still would not be aspect to see the car come to a stop, or taking the corner, for instance, and watch the head lights falling off the car or even loosing a bumper let's say....:-(

Seems like a dummy camera otherwise they would've used it live with the screen on. They're just explaining the features. My main question is that is this camera going to be full time manual zoom or can it also have an option of motorized zooming?

I don't think Fuji is dumb to release defective product. That was just a pre-prod demo unit.

Good Grief!... No they are not. When it happened in the past it was later discovered that it was a pre-prod unit that leaked out and found itself on the retail shelves!...

LOL :D

Based on the company's track record during the past 18 to 24 months, what Fujifilm can still do wonderfully well is basically two things:

1. Release purrfectly puffed-up, super-flashy press releases, reading of which one is immediately convinced that the latest FinePix camera they happen to be talking about is going to be truly the best camera ever made. By anyone, Ever.

2. Tell us that when it comes to Fujifilm cameras, a "MADE IN JAPAN" logo actually means or should mean something.... something in the positive realm, that is.

Now, on the other hand.... if Fujifilm would release just a quarter of the camera models that they are in fact releasing.... but spend twice as long developing and testing them before releasing Beta variants to the suppliers as finished products.... we would so much happier. Not sure about the resident FF bean-counters, though.

It even has a "artistic toy camera mode". Well, maybe it does not need that mode at all.:-D

Does your $$$$ fancy, ancient DSLR camera with all those $$$$ prime lenses has an artistic toy camera mode? I'll bet it doesn't.

Looks like someone took photos with it too. LCD seems active in the last 2 shots.

edit: ok doubt shots were taken. Just views through the LCD.

A solid proof that HS30 doesn't know the word creep.

I assume you mean HS50, that is what the top of the cam says.
