Not to worry......as long as the function is working.
Ralph, as far as I can see, you did it! I don't know what's gone wrong earlier, but this time you succeeded! :-D

PS: I use Mozilla Firefox, but the results should be the same....

Hi there Keith. No need for any Christmassy lights here......we'll just leave the monitors on displaying those lovely colourful pictures up there. Better still I'll download them and configure a slideshow!

As we both will never see our 80th birthday again (not in this life anyway) we have quiet Christmases now and we go to the childrens for Christmas day, Boxing day and New Years day where we have massive dinners for which we prepare our stomachs by making the previous day's lunch our last meal and eating only grapefruit in between. Works for us!

I'll be taking only a few pictures as on these occasions I prefer to let the kids do their own thing with their cameraphones and there'll be a few new ones this year I've no doubt. I'd rather sit and talk anyway.

I hope both you and Dawn have a wonderful time and we are aware of the flooding in the west country but as you've not mentioned that I suppose your area is unaffected like ours. By the way, we're not all that far from Whitley Bay. It's the Newcastle area that's suffered mainly and I think it's timely to give a thought for all the poor sods whose Christmas will be a nightmare this year.

Blessings from us,

Ralph.

hi ralph yes we live on high ground so we are ok

today i had a trip to our local reservoir its still raining today while i take these shots me trying to keep my r1 safe and dry

the place is over flowing with water flowing down from the hills of dartmoor devon

the noise is just so loud when the water drops about 60 feet below i was going to climb down to the bottom and take some shots but it was just to slippery and not safe

My brother found a "new" Kodak for me, for a gift at Christmas. A Senior Six-16 that appears unused, in the original packaging, and the enclosed instruction guide is from 1937. I may try to use 120 film in it, unless Ilford or someone makes a batch of 616 film. May pack up my M583s for posterity.

Pretty cool. Of course, even if you find the 120 film there is always the problem of finding a lab to process it. Film is pretty much a dead end these days. Time to move on I'm afraid.

I guess I'm lucky to have started learning about photography when Kodak was in its prime, publishing helpful material for newbies. Sad to see it go --

Not even close.
According to that site.......well, look for yourselves to see how many film processing labs there are about the world. In Newcastle alone there are at least three and film, even 110, is always available.

I fancy that even with the latest and greatest digicam wouldn't produce a better result than this family snap which was taken on Kodachrome in 1971 and looks great viewed on a 5-foot screen.

Well... I'm glad for you BUT here, film is dead and gone. No one shoots film, no one wants film, and no one develops film. It's dead.

BTW: love the picture. She's a cutie.

Well, I sincerely hope for Barack Obama he has better "friends" than mr. Company Killer Perez.

Barack doesn't need enemies with such friends!

Kodak wasn't the first and won't be the last..........

My edit time exceeded, but I would add mr. Perez is not the only one, there were others very responsible too in the past!!

Absolute nonsense.

You are just showing your extreme ignorance.

How do these places stay in business then?

ALL film cameras. There's about 20 stores like this, many much larger, in this mall. ALL selling film cameras. Guess no one is shooting film, right?

nice capture ralph so did you ride the motor bike or drive the vauxhall viva back in those days

and i guess the cheeky chaps bike was taken out of the boot,,,maybe a picnic day shot in the summer

its all about having some thing to look back on and i love this shot it reminds me of my younger days and my grandads motor bike and sidecar

cheers bassy

Thanks for dropping in with those very revealing pics, Ratty.....and A Very Happy 2013 to you and yours.

As one can see, film is definitely alive and well in China alone as are the cameras that use it. A real eye-opener along with a feast for it!

I wish those who are more interested in image quality than convenience and may have never seen a projected colour slide, could view a friend's 2 1/4 square colour slides taken with a Rollei and projected on a glass-beaded 5-foot screen. There is no consumer digital kit available that can even start to compete. Note I said 'consumer' - I wouldn't know about the cinema grade stuff.

A most interested Ralph.

I certainly drove the Viva, Keith and I did ride the motorbike twice but motorbikes were not to my taste at 41 years of age. It's a Greeves by the way and was my son's. I'm pretty sure it had a Villiers 250cc two-stroke engine.

The bike was a BSA and belonged to my other daughter and the pic was taken alongside the house with a Zorki II USSR 35mm camera.

I've got plenty to look back on here and I haven't yet finished photographing all the slides for which I use the Sony H2 as the DX7590 won't focus close enough. I have dozens of lengths of black&white film whose prints have mainly gone to the family. I've tried copying a few frames the same way as the slides and doing a neg/pos reversal in IrfanView with great success. When I've finished copying all I will burn a few archival quality DVDs for the family or SD cards to view on either a 'puter or TV.

Seasons wishes to you and Dawn :-).

Ralph.
