WOW. Love this one. Beautiful

yeah, such a great shot! i used to live in that area for years, lots of good things to take photos of!

Nicely done and the exposure looks very nice. Dave

Thanks all for the kind comments - it is very much appreciated. For those who are interested, this was about a three minute exposure, and I used a flashlight to light the cactus. It is pretty hard to frame the photo in the dark, so there's a lot of trial and error.

Love the photo. How dark was it when you made the photo?

Excellent result. Three seconds with a full moon and some light painting... I'll file that in the gray matter if I ever have a chance to do someting similar. Thanks for posting!

Not three seconds - three MINUTES! The light painting was just a few seconds. You need to open the lens up to f8 at least, otherwise it takes a really long time.

Did you have LE noise reduction turned on, or? Great shot.

10-4. I was thinking minutes, but my fingers typed seconds. Again, a fine piece of work -- and probably fun, too! (Fun is important.)

That is very nicely done. Composition in the dark sucks, at least you had a full moon to help (if I am remembering that tidbit correctly...)

Having the horizon right smack dab in the middle of the image detracts a little bit, but the overall feel is great!

That's a good point and I totally agree with you about the horizon being distracting. I remember just trying to get the horizon level, which wasn't easy because I was on a narrow ridge about five feet wide with about a 75ft steep drop on either side. So my options for changing the point of view were limited. And it was dark :)

Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt.
