have had this printer for about 4 days. been printing 4x6 image on 5x7 paper. using canson infinity paper. have printed about 20 different images with no problems. all of a sudden i'm getting a few drops of black ink on one of the white margins (long edge).

have done the following:

ran nozzle check 3 times

successfully printed text documents clearly.

used epson matte paper once and it did not happen.
epson tech support was pretty useless.

anyone experience this problem and if so how was it resolved.

thank you.

the paper may be curling slightly causing an edge headstrike. you may want to go into the driver software and specify the next increment of paper thickness or 'platen gap' (if your printer supports that) to something wider than default.

apologize fr taking so long to reply. thank you for your feedback. you were correct. the paper was curling. flattened it out and everything is ok.

If you multiply the paper thickness in mil's by .254 the result will give you the platen setting to use. Example: 13 mils x .254 = 3.302. Set the platen gap to 3 or 4. 3 should work ok. When I get the spots on the side with my 3880, a simple head cleaning usually clears it up.
