...of zoom lenses ;-)

The 17-35/2.8 AF-S, 28-70/2.8 AF-S, and 70-200/2.8 AF-S VR:

Now if Nikon could just get me a 70-200/VR that would work with a TC I'd be tickled pink. I have to admit it, Nikon makes the sexiest lenses available -- hands down. Canon just can't compete there, if that matters to anyone ;-)

Apologies to those who think me a blasphemer.

Brendan,
Did you send the 70 -200 VR in with the TC 20.
Maybe it's the teleconverter that is causing the repeated issue.
Just a thought..

I used two separate, both brand new converters. A brand new one the first time, and a brand new replacement today. Serial numbers are different, so they didn't stiff me with the same one.

I find it hard to believe (though not impossible) that I have two bad, brand new TC-20e's.

Blasphemy is removing the aperture ring on a "serious" lens, I feel like the "Holy Spirit" of the Nikon system is gone...

once again hoping that you will educate me, brendan...
Were I thinking properly I would've arranged them in the proper order of "Father, Son, and Holy Spirit."

It's obvious who the Father would be, but there is a heated theological debate as to whom has preeminence between the other two.

Sad, isn't it? Both of my Nikon bodies (D1x, F5) will handle G lenses, but it's sad that Nikon is abandoning greats like the FM-2. What would it cost to put an aperture ring on these lenses? $20? $50? Wouldn't that be worth it?

I still don't understand why someone would even want to use a 70-200 vr on an FM-2, when it wouldn't be able to handle vr or even the autofocus.

if one wants the focal range and 2.8 why not just get a used 80-200 rather than spend 700 more on a feature that won't work with nikon manuals.

...many Nikonians have both newer and older bodies and don't relish the thought of having to use DIFFERENT lenses for different bodies.

What is the middle one, cross-dresser? :-)

Just kidding. Actually I was shooting my 70-200VR at a game on sunday, the sun beating down hard, the lens was getting warm. Wish I had a gray one, less heat.

I am not so good in guessing. Is it a 70-200VR, 17-35 2.8, 85 1,4 and the 80-400VR ?

80-200 f/2.8 alder version before S vs your 70-200 VR.
